Yes, but that's partially the key -- there are a *lot* of them in Buckland. It's harder to give individual attention when there are so many running around. Easier for Bilbo, who's on his own with no one else to look after ... What a fun little get-together. And only in LOTR can a child -- pardon me, tweenager -- give a pipe as a gift. :-) I was so happy that the movies didn't strip all the pipes and smoking out -- it's such an integral background piece of ME, and of hobbits in particular ... Author Reply: I'm happy you're enjoying Quarantined. This was a very special story for me.

"It’s the sickle --- my favorite stars,” explained Frodo. “You like stars,” he continued, reaching up to touch the silver pin on Aragorn’s cloak, “so I thought you should have more of them.” My dear shirebound, you know this feeling? You could cry for ages for the beauty of words? I still do and I'm happy about it. This is what a story has to be like ... I'm deeply touched and too moved to write. Stars. I'm addicted to stars ... May the stars always shine brightly where you are. I really don't know what to say besides Thank God I met YOU! The past days you gave so much joy to me, you can't imagine. You're a wonderful friend, you're a piece of my life now and I'm very very glad. *hugs you again (can't resist, there can be not enough hobbity hugs)* Author Reply: Goodness, thank you. I have to say that this chapter (15) was very, very special for me. I put a lot of my heart into it. This is the friendship, love, support, and tenderness I wish for Frodo... and all of us. *hugs you*

Yes, Bilbo saw that light in Frodo from the first, and it drew them together. And how wonderful all realize Sam's already strong instinct to father Frodo as well. And LOVE the weapons being up the tree, myself! Author Reply: Of all the chapters I've ever written, this is one of my very favorites. I love it when Frodo's value and 'light' are recognized by those who can appreciate it.
