| Well, that didn't go well for them -- although we already knew how it would turn out. :-P Seems quite realistic that the hobbits would all be in shock. They've run from the Black Riders, but never really faced them before or felt the Black Breath (Merry never went on his walk in this version, right?). That would definitely be a shock to the system... Author Reply: That Black Breath must be dreadful indeed. It was quite challenging (but fun) to weave my "Q" verse into the real journey taken by Aragorn and the hobbits. | |

| WOW WOW WOW! :D Love it love it! You need to teach me how to write, SB! :) I'm so loving this... now I'm off to read MORE! Yippee for slow phone days at work! ::dances around, stops then looks at you...:: Ok... who spiked my tea? :) But seriously this just keeps getting better and better. I love how grounded it is in Book-Cannon, yet the AU seamlessly weaves its way in, around and thru the story till you can barely tell the two apart. You're going to make today much more bearable for me, that's for sure! :) Author Reply: Wow, thank you! This story was so intense, I spent months trying to make it sound "just right". | A subtle change, due to your AU--because Aragorn had once needed athelas for Frodo in the past, he now keeps it on hand, so he didn't have to search for it. And of course, Sam has no reason to be suspicious of him, since he already knows and trusts him. | |
