Shire: Beginnings  by Lindelea 2 Review(s)

And so ‘Gandalf’ is born. :-)

What a lovely thing, that everyone stopped to sew new clothes for them and to see that they were cared for. I’m sure it was a merry time indeed for the Elves - who, as you say, have all the time in the world.

Author Reply: I think this was a lovely respite for the Fallohides and a time of wonder and renewal for the Elves. As Gandalf observed, just when you think you know everything there is about Hobbits, they surprise you. (Or something like that.)

Oh, you made me cry again! So many poor hobbits killed.

But the arrival in Imladris is so beautifully thought of and consoled me a little.

Sad that the hobbits of Bilbo's and Frodo's time don't really remember that their ancestors were with the Elves once.

Greetings, Nienor

Author Reply: I'm glad you found consolation in the welcome the travellers found at Imladris. "The Last Homely House" sounds like the perfect place for them to rest and recuperate.
