A very nice adoption ceremony, even if Aragorn's cloak has a few little puppy toothmarks in its hem! Author Reply: I still remember our pup (a long time ago) gnawing on the ends of our kitchen chairs until they had that "lived in" look.

Finally, finally catching up on this lovely story... I think this is my favorite part so far. No one writes hobbity interaction with each other and with Big Folk, like you do. The affection and happiness of this household and this time is a tangible thing, like a sheepdown blanket. There were so many things I liked - Sam's reaction to the young master working in the garden (and Sam's 'voice' was delightful), that Sam greeted the horse before its rider, and Estel stroking the hair back from an exhausted child-Frodo's face as he slept. Awwwww...

Finally! Got back to read a bit more, very sneakily. Will I become like Gollum? You had me looking in vain for Lobelia to appear: Bilbo suspected that Scamp sensed how others felt about (and treated) Frodo, and reacted to them accordingly -- but Frodo simply thought that the pup was a good judge of character. Perhaps another chapter before returning from lunch break...

I haven't read too many hobbit stories that are too sweet. The dears lend themselves rather nicely to sweetness. I love Frodo's suddenly realizing the cloak is too big for Bilbo and the mention of the star brooch. I once again seem buried in doom and gloom and so am very much needing your light and gentle story. Thank you!

I loved the fact that Frodo and Estel teased each other about needing a bath...and that Sam would greet the Horse before the horseman!!! Lovely Helen

J, this is so totally warm and fuzzy! I might need to print out a hard copy so I can snuggle with it on the couch. :) You're making me want to get my daughter that puppy she's been begging for, even though I know it'll grow up into a big ole slobbery dog that I'll have to feed and walk! You've captured the joys and frustrations of owning a puppy beautifully. I laughed out loud more than once.

I am looking at a dog crate - maybe I could send it to the shire? I am so glad to see Estel in this story, and under such good circumstances. Frodo is having typical puppy problems..and I still fill in holes dug in the yard. Thank goodness when the puppy teeth are gone. We played lots of tug to massage those gums :D Loving this sweet story Nilmandra PS It used to be two dogs and three cats. Fortunately, the bird sleeps in his cage - much safer that way.

Great story! Plus it gave me a reason/excuse for rereading a few chapters of Quarantined!:) Pretty much everything you write turns out right!
