Wow...That was a wonderful story! It was well written and well characterized. I could relate with Frodo, as a while back I had some of the same feelings. I like how you used nature and how Eru never makes anything without a purpose as a way to pull him out, and then the scene with Sam at the end-! :*( But so good! Thanks for sharing! If it weren't for homework, I'd be going on to read the rest of your stories.

Author Reply: Thank you so much for writing, FrodoBaggins! I'm glad you enjoyed the story - and I hope that even as Frodo found healing from the feelings of deapair, so have you. It's certainly not uncommon - been there myself, or I couldn't have written it. Love & hugs - jo

How wonderful! I'm so glad I found this story. I've been reading Following the Other Wizard at another site. I came here on the recommendation of a friend, spotted your name, and was delighted to find the back-story for FTOW. This story is delightfully creative and the characterization is so true. Sam is my absolute favorite in these chapters; I've often wondered how you would treat him and am very pleased. My only dissappointment is finding out that Frodo doesn't get back to the Shire for so long. And now you have put me in a quandry as to whether to read the other here at break-neck speed or savor it slowly. Either way, you are definitely being added to my favorite authors list.

Author Reply: Hi Calime-

I'm so glad you've found the SoA site - there are some really good stories on here. And I'm happy you liked Another Way of Leaving. Yeah, Frodo is away an awfully long time; poor Sam! But the Ringbearer has one more great task before him, though he doesn't know it yet. Stay tuned...

And thank you for the lovely review!

jodancingtree, you have me in tears.
This was a truly wonderful story, I think I've just fallen in love with it.

Author Reply: Thank you, Lily! I wouldn't want to say I'm glad you were in tears - and yet, that's kind of what this story is supposed to do. :-) I'm glad you like it.

After reading LOTR I wondered "how would Frodo ever recover?" I thought quite a bit about the post-traumatic stress he would suffer. You've addressed this issue beautifully. Thank you so much for this wonderful tale. It made me cry a lot of tears. The issue of suicide is very personal to me as my daughter tried to kill herself when she was 14. Thank you again, may the Eldar bless you and now excuse me while I go get my handkerchief. Also I absolutely love the reverence for Nature in your story. Who would have thought of regenerating the land of Mordor?

Author Reply: Thank you, Woodswalker. I think many of us have been touched by suicide, one way or another - my father took his life when I was a child. It seemed like something that might have tempted Frodo, if he had not had the escape of going over the Sea. I hope you will have a look at the companion story, "Following the Other Wizard" - it has been healing thing for me, trying to imagine how Frodo could recover...

I remember this one too. Good old Radagast, a worthy 'cousin' to Gandalf. And And I love the way Mr. Sam 'Sherlock Holmes' Gamgee works out where Frodo's really gone and what he must have in mind. Too many people underrate the gardener's brain.

Author Reply: Hi, Morwen! I'm flattered that you remember this - hope you find time to read "Following the Other Wizard", as I'd really value your opinion of that one. And Sam - oh yeah, he's simple, but he's not a simpleton! At Parth Galen, he was the only one of the Fellowship who understood what was on Frodo's mind -

Ah, Jo, I love this story! Haven't got the time to read it now, is it revised? Even if the same as I originally read, it is worth the re-read when I have time!

Author Reply: It's still the same story, Lindelea (although I'm forever fiddling about with my stories, changing a word here, a sentence there) but essentially it's the same -- I wanted to get it up here, as an introduction to Following the Other Wizard. Thank you for thinking it's worth re-reading -- t'ain't any finer praise for a story than that!
