Oh, poor Glorfi! Does Elrond have any convinient rocks for him to crawl under and hide? Hm, yes, Erestor does have a lot to answer for! Lynda

I think this is wonderful. Poor Glorfindel, yet another inaccurate song. This is one of the many reasons I don't want to be famous.

This is so very good. The rhyme scheme and rhythm track so nicely...I do fear for Erestor, :) :) :) Vi

This was truly funny! The poem itself was completely Tolkienesque in tone, rhythm, and use of words. You captured the earnest nature of young Estel's hero worship beautifully. I could just see him warming to his subject as he approached the great contest with the Balrog. And the humorous struggle between Glorfindel and Elrond was a gentle echo of the heroic fight; a good story-telling technique. But I liked the poem in its context best of all. Very nice job! Regards - Chathol-linn Author Reply: I'm so glad you found it Tolkienesque! That was the ultimate compliment.

Brilliant!!! Poor Glorfindel - it had me laughing. I'd always wondered how much of the great songs would have been made up, I suppose it's like *our* heroes - Robin Hood and all that lot, except that he's not around to correct them :D I'd love to find out what Glorfindel's revenge was... Author Reply: Yes, I think all great legends must grow in the telling over the years - it would be odd if the original hero was around to correct the mistakes. A Glorfindel "revenge" fic is simmering in the back of my mind. When it's ready, I'll post it here.

Hi, Antogone! snort! Poor Glorfindel... but I hope Erestor will get his one time, too. This was very amusing and very well written, and I can see it happen in the "Light In May" universe anytime, too. Very funny! Thank you! Aislynn Author Reply: I had it in mind as taking place just after the dinner table scene in chapter 7, although, as you say, it could take place any time.

Wow, Antigone, that is incredible! I am impressed that you wrote that whole song yourself -- very nicely done! But what I especially love is your imaginative glimpse into a scene that might well have happened, but no one has written about before. Glorfindel's reactions seem just right, and I can just see Estel being so proud of himself! Very funny! Thank you! - Barbara P.S. A subtle hint to your Muse: I, too, would love to see a sequel where Glorfindel confronts or takes revenge upon Erestor... Author Reply: Thanks. I started to write one of those Glorfindel-fought-the-Balrog poems, and then thought to myself, "What on earth would poor Glorfindel think, having to listen to this?"

"A crown of flowers?" muttered Glorfindel incredulously, "While fighting dragons? And those towers were made of pure stone!" Ah, the poor, poor Lord of the House of the Golden Flower! Oh, my! I loved this. I am sure everyone will be screaming for you to let us know what Glorfy does to Erestor. Include me in that horde. I also particularly like his righteous indignation that he would have left the rear "undefended". I am with you on pronunciation. As far as I can determine from Tolkien, this would be the way to go. I also do the same with Erestor and Mithrandir. Author Reply: Yes, there are several people who want a sequel, it seems. Book of Lost Tales 2 does in fact imply that most of the "women and sick" (Tolkien's words, not mine, believe me!) had been sent rearward for safety, but that Glorfindel, at least, was already there. So to say that there was "nobody" in the back was probably especially insulting to him.
