And I forgot to mention Valandil! You know, that's one of the things that always struck me about Tolkien's history: that families were so often separated, sometimes for many years at a time, sometimes forever. I know that reflects "real" history, but somehow Tolkien gave me both a wider view of his historical events, and still made me feel the characters' losses intimately. That comes through beautifully in your portrayal of Valandil. He's just a kid, separated from his family, wishing that they would return, and feeling left out. He's young, and on the verge of learning that things can get so very much worse... Very nicely written! - Barbara

Oh, Zim, you paint the relationship between Glorfindel and Lindir so beautifully! Their encounter left tears in my eyes. What a different take on the LoTR scene in the Hall of Fire... That's a great idea, that Lindir wrote a "little" song that lasted the whole Age and spread well beyond Elvendom. Great story, Zim! - Barbara
