Just getting around to starting this one as I have been caught up in the other one. So far I like it. I only hope I am up to keeping all of my Merrys straight! LOL Author Reply: I hope I can keep all of my Merrys straight too!

Yay! A lot of Merrys. What fun. Author Reply: Yes, I am having quite a bit of fun, though it will be more challenging to keep everything straight once the wedding starts! Wish me luck! Thanks for reviewing!

Oh, this does look good. I really liked seeing Pippin and Diamond's middle children in this. I think I'm going to like them. Is spring in the air, or what? Isn't this the second story envolving a wedding that you've started posting this week? Looking forward to lots more. Connie. Author Reply: It is the second, though they are separated by 7 years, I think. This story is actually the first one on the timeline, it just has not cooperated very well when it came to writing. When I came to the end of "Shire" and "Pearl", I needed to start working on another story-in-progress or else start a new one, and I've been waiting so very long to get to "Solid Ground"... I wanted to post this first, but it just wouldn't come. Now it is percolating, but I had already started posting the other. In the interest of fun (I get bored easily) I'm going to see how far I can write and keep the chapter titles the same in both stories. *That* ought to be a challenge, considering the very different nature of the two stories.

Sorry, but I think there's an "oops." You may or may not have to decide who is the ranking "Mistress Cotton" in question (the family tree does not give a date for Lily Cotton's death, but her husband had died in 1440) -- but in any case surely it couldn't be anyone the Gamgee kids would refer to as "Mistress Cotton"? She's either Gramma (Lily, Rose's mother) or Aunt Marigold (Sam's sister and Rose's brother's wife) or still another Aunt (wife of another of Rose's brothers). ‘It’s our duty to make Frodo’s wedding memorable, you know!’ Now *that's* scary! Author Reply: You are correct! I have changed it to "Aunt Marigold", since she's a character in the story anyhow, and her husband would have inherited the farm after Farmer Cotton died. Farmer Cotton died? *sniff* How sad! I feel as bad as I did when I realised that Uncle Merimac had died... Author Reply: p.s. Thanks!

I suspect this ISN'T the comedic wedding story ;) I was rather surprised to see this one pop up, thought it'd be a while until you debuted it. There are times its nice to be mistaken in assumptions. Sam and Rose should have known better than to name their children after Merry and Pippin. Same applies to Diamond and Peregrin. Young Merry Took (all these Merrys! Could Merry Took's name be spelled Merri or Meri to save on reader confusion?) should be interesting, you've not dealt with him to the extent of Faramir. Can't wait to see what will go awry at the wedding! Author Reply: Ummm. Well, I won't disillusion you. Keep your frown in place and watch for angst... ;) Well this does come first on the timeline and I meant to post it first but it wouldn't write itself so I put it away, promising to start posting when the fifth chapter was safely written. In the meantime, "Solid Ground" had been bugging me and so I started posting *that*. Wouldn't you know that something in "Merrys" broke loose as a result? The pieces have fallen into place and the story is merrily writing itself. I had originally spelled Merry Took's name "Meri" and might go back to that, haven't decided yet. Thanks for reviewing!
