How well I remember not being able to sleep on the eve of an exciting adventure. It was just last month when we went to the beach. I guess there is a little elfling in all of us even when we are supposed to be grown up. I think Tathiel's baby will co-operate just like Legolas does now. Another exciting adventure when the baby comes and Legolas tries to take it in hand. The first time he will be away from those he has come to love and depend on. Another milestone for them all. Legolas remembering. Of course he does Bregolas. It will be interesting to see how much he remembers and how he will interpret those memories. It was an adventure now but will other memories surface he will have to deal with? Children are resilient. They can process happenings because everything is no very new to them. Boundaries for Legolas while camping. Some stories have little Legolas being very disobedient and running wild in the forest all the time. That would be so dangerous and I am amazed he lives to grow up in those stories. I though Bregolas teaching Legolas bird calls and then having the little prince using his rudimentary tracking skills to capture Sadron was very good. He is a wood elf and he is learning wood elf skills already. He is a little imp though. I love him. Lathron and ada are uneasy. They blame it on missing Legolas but there is much more to be worried about. Now to Elladan and Elrohir and company chasing orcs. Orcs who use tactics and think about how to evade the elves. Most unusual orcs indeed. Well at least the elves are slowly eroding the orc force away. There are only about ten to worry about now but the captain with a message is the important one. This is getting very exciting and very close to the Mirkwood contingent. Nice build up to getting the two groups together. I am eagerly awaiting more. Author Reply: I am looking forward to the two groups meeting. It works well in my mind, so hopefully it will on paper too! Sorry for the delay in posting - work and all that :P

Yes, another excellent chapter. I love the depth of feelings between Legolas and all his family and even extended family. I wonder what he thinks of Tathiel and Rawien's elfling when it makes its appearance. I would think the two parties should meet at some time, look forward to it. Author Reply: I am looking forward to Legolas meeting Tathiel and Rawien's baby. I will no longer be the baby, but I think he might be ready for that. I also am looking forward to him meeting the Imladris elves - and for the Imladris elves to meet wood elves! Educational experience :D

Ack - I keep losing track of your updates. Legolas is certainly at that age when 'a bundle of energy' can't quite do justice. I'm enjoying the suspense of the story - from Thranduil's end, something is obviously bothering him and Lathron, while on the Imladris end, we can guess that it has to do with the orc captain. It should be interesting to see the parties meet up. Author Reply: Updates have been a bit slow, I am afraid :P I am looking forward to the two parties meeting - it's a bit like a field trip, an educational experience to meet new people.

Can I be Legolas' pet, er... I mean, prisoner, next?? Warrior Legolas was so cute stalking Sadron. And little Legolas knows his pony well. Curon would stop for Legolas if he fell off, for Curon is a good pony. :-) The mystery of the orcs deepens. I'm really puzzled over why they're behaving in such an unorcish manner. I hope the Rivendell elves find out why soon! (And that you'll post their findings soon, too!) LKK PS: I also hope Tathiel's "baby elfling" is "cooperative" while Legolas is gone. LOL Author Reply: Legolas will gladly claim you as prisoner - but beware, he is a handful! I think Tathiel's baby will be a whole lot more cooperative now that Legolas isn't tracking and jumping on its naneth :D

First I am miffed that I didn't hear about this update. Hmmph ... but, it was worth it. I love baby Legolas. I love his more adult form too but this little one - sigh, he is going to break hearts. Mothering hen brother and Ada were a lovely touch. But isn't is amusing that the men/elves in fics have more mothering tendencies than the women themselves. Must be our desire to have men like these in our own lives. I know I want my husband to be exactly like your Thranduil. Tall order no? I know I have probably send this before - but you control the tone and mood in your chapters very well. In Histroy Lessons the transition between the elfling and the angst was more slow so one might miss it, but here it is sudden and unmistakable. THe contrast really adds to the tension of the latter half. I was reading the first bit, with Legolas will such a silly grin which was pretty much wiped out by the fight. Elves can be so lovely and silly but so dangerous too. Though the two situations were completely different, the change did not jar - probably because there was a thread of humour running through both halves. Now when are you going to have the next chapter up? Author Reply: Ack - this is slow for me! This whole business situation has been unpleasant, but it is resolving. I appreciate your nice words about the contrast here. IT is interesting to jump from the laid back life of a spoiled elfling to the sudden life of a warrior in battle. But those contrasts are what make the story fun to write. I'll be looking at your summary soon, too, promise :D

I can remember as a kid wanting to go to bed early on Christmas Eve so that morning would come faster, but apparently that reasoning doesn't work with little elves. And then Lathron needs a clock, so he can say, as I did to my own son, "The little hand has to be on the 6! The 6!" I loved the scene with Bregolas walking Legolas around the boundaries of the camp. Bregolas knew that little brother needed to feel the boundaries, not just hear about them. And poor Sadron, the pet. I also liked the banter among the Rivendell elves. It seemed realistic, particularly Elrohir's "only if I do not find him first." I can't wait for these two groups to meet. Author Reply: Legolas is hands on little elfling, isn't he? Thanks for all the corrections in the next chapter - I think I will blame the cat for walking on the keyboard- how else could I have that many dropped letters? Um..don't answer that.

Really enjoying looking at the "regular" tasks of elves (as opposed to saving Middle Earth- or singing and feasting Cheers, Helen Author Reply: Thanks Helen - I am looking forward to seeing what Legolas thinks of meeting twins - and also what the Imladris elves think of wood elves on their own territory!

That's an interesting theory. Or maybe the bows just got rusty. Who knows? I loved the hyper Legolas. Will he get to meet our twins soon? Author Reply: The meeting draws near, and I hope its as fun to read as it is to watch play out on my mind :D

Of all the authors that I have read you are my favorite.. there is something about the way that you write about legolas and his family that I love..the beauty of your elves.. it often will bring me to tears.. please keep up the wonderful work.. I cannot wait for the next chapter.. Author Reply: Oh, thank you *blushes*. I love writing about little Legolas, and it was important to me to give him a loving family after making his first years so rocky. I hope you enjoy this next chapter.

Aw! Legolas will make a sweet big brother for Tathiel's baby. He was adorable out in the forest. :-) But poor Sadron...it's a good thing he adores the little guy. The flashbacks reminded me....any encounters with men in Legolas's future (this story, or another?) Author Reply: Perhaps......now, this chapter is in partial response to your challenge about magic in the Woodland Realm. We will see how good I can do with actual 'magic'. :D
