Hooray! It is always most surprising when one finds a really well-written tale. I chanced upon this one, as I most like Thengel, and fell in love. I love that you know how poor a leader Fengel was, but I wonder about Turgon. The books don't speak that highly of him, yet your tale reminds me that Thengel must have thought better of him than of Fengel, for him to remain in Minas Tirith. Will read on - and thanks for sharing this!!!! Author Reply: Oh gosh- you've totally made my day, discovering that you're reading this story of mine! It's not every day that a Thengel-lover comes along, and I'm so very pleased that you're enjoying this story. I almost want to reread it myself with you, since it's been a couple of years ago that I wrote it. What intrigued me about this pairing and situation are the kernels that Tolkien put in that astonished me as I wrote it: the inverse parallels with Faramir/Eowyn, that Turgon and Fengel die the same year, wondering how much of Gondorian culture Thengel brought with him back to Rohan... it's no wonder I loved writing it so much. I'm so glad that you're enjoying it! I ::loved:: writing it, visualizing Rohan and Gondor. | |
