Hi Thevina, What a terrific story! I read it a few weeks ago, didn't have time to leave a review then, and then lost track of where it was... so please forgive the delay in reviewing. I have been intrigued by all the untold stories hinted at in Tolkien's accounts of Rohan, and your story very vividly constructs a plausible and fascinating reality for Morwen and Thengel. You provide a richness of characterization and detail that helps me almost "see" the story in my mind's eye, which few stories do. Thank you for a very fine evening's read! - Barbara Author Reply: Hello to you! How thrilling to get a review for this story, which is honestly one of my own favorites. (I enjoy rereading it, even knowing how it's going to end, lol!) I have been intrigued by all the untold stories hinted at in Tolkien's accounts of Rohan, and your story very vividly constructs a plausible and fascinating reality for Morwen and Thengel. Many thanks. Going through the Appendices can heap more fodder for potential stories than any one person has time to write; I hope that you will be writing Appendix-fics as well! You provide a richness of characterization and detail that helps me almost "see" the story in my mind's eye, which few stories do. I appreciate that comment. I had hoped to show both the positive/honorable characteristics of the main characters, but also their foibles and negative parts of their personalities. Keep them human and believable, in other words. I adore Rohan, as is probably evident in my story topics, and writing about the people and the culture there brings me great happiness. I am so glad that this story appealed to you enough to write a review! ~Thevina | |
