Tolly's hurt bad, Ferdi's trapped inside, and where is Faramir? Pippin's got me scared for him. The only good thing happening is that Gimli has arrived and can supervise the diggings. You know who else I'm worried about? Rosemary and Hally in the Woody End were probably hit pretty hard too. They have a house rather than a hole, but there's lots of trees to fall. There are so many characters in the story now that it's taking a while to see to all of them. I'll keep hoping for the best, with my fingers crossed. Author Reply: Now that you mention it, it is about time for Hally to make an appearance... after all, his son Robin is at the Great Smials. Am home sick, with not much better to do besides sleeping and writing. Am posting the next chapter, and going back to bed. Hope there aren't any terrible problems with it, for I'm not even going to proofread until the morrow. Bad me. You'll let me know if you see any gaffes, won't you?

How fascinating that Legolas and Gimli are part of this story! And what a complex story it is. You're juggling all the parts beautifully.

Poor Pippin. What a wrenching chapter. Diamond is very inventive, using petticoats to form a rope.

Gimli is here at last! Now the digging can begin. Smart of Diamond to think of a good use for those rediculous petticoats. That lass has a way of seeing what needs done and doing it! Realize you just posted this, but can't wait for more. Hope you don't have to answer any more map questions and get detained from your own work! : )
