I was completely computer-less for a few days so it was such a pleasant surprise to see you posted. Oh, the plot thickens with every new chapter. It is interesting having new characters coming into the story. Tarnan's sorrow over the old man was so...sad, but believable. I like the character Alun, he seems to be the trustworthy sort (I'm supposing for now.) Cheers to you!

I love your original characters, Nightwing. You get the balance just right with their initial suspicion of Aragorn and Legolas tempered by understanding later on. I like how Alun realises that Legolas is blind, but says nothing. Very tactful. And I am intrigued by this mysterious sorceror. I'm looking forward to learning more about him. The child's reaction to the news of the death of his dear friend was beautifully done. He is an engaging lad, isn't he. Brave, lively and confident. (He will make a good leader after his father is gone.) I am also puzzled by the reason behind the bad reputation that Elves have in the city. Perhaps you will reveal the reason for this later on, or maybe it is just the usual kind of suspicion that we tend to have for those who are different. As always I enjoyed your style of writing. To the reader it seems effortless. I'm sure it isn't, but it seems that way. Best of luck in the hunt for a new job. Take care. Theresa

The boy and the soldier are very convincing characters. I like the lively child who still does as he's told by his guard, whom he obviously respects. Legolas is apparently not as good at hiding his blindness as he had hoped he would be, at least not to a perceptive observer. And the plot thickens. I wonder who the sorcerer is?

Sorry about ignoring your request -- I didn't mean to blow it off. At first I didn't know how to respond, and then I got real busy and didn't have time to do anything about it. I did get it, and I did spend some time thinking about it. The reason I didn't dash off an e-mail right away is that I'm really cyber-shy, and I feel weird about e-mailing with other authors, especially since my e-mail program would tell you my real name, which I don't like to give out. It's nothing against you personally; it's just that I'm kind of a skittish Pony with everyone. Please don't feel bad about it. Anyway, on to this chapter. Ah, Legolas, you can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people all of the time, but you can't fool Alun this particular time. How interesting to see other characters in this story! For so long, it's been just the two of them, and this really tight interaction has made for some incredible depth and richness of character. And just when it might have started to feel a little claustrophobic, ta-da! new characters arrive. Masterful. These two new arrivals seem to be fairly high-ranking, which is good news for Our Heroes; if they have some clout in the village, then the good impression that A. and L. leave on them might translate into them being either left alone or actively assisted later on when the villagers discover them. Now I am very curious about these villagers; they've existed on the periphery of the story for so long that they've been almost invisible, but now they make their presence known, and what an interesting presence it is! It's too bad that the kid had to learn this way that the old man, who was clearly a friend and mentor, had died. but interesting that he seems to have a ready suspect in mind.

Its nice to know that Legolas and Aragorn have people willing to help them then fight against them. The story should get very intresting with how Alun says "If I can protect you from what lies ahead, I will." very intresting...

Oh, Nightwing, I was so sure we'd be getting to some Elf torture soon! For a town so unfriendly to strangers, they do have some nice people around don't they? But this wizard sounds intriguing. And Legolas is going to have to work some more at concealing his blindness. Not an easy task. Now I'm wondering just what sort of secrets the leaders are keeping, and what their history is, that they distrust the Elves so much. Ignorance breeds fear, but for such active hate perhaps there is something more there. Well, I'll just keep waiting. I'm enjoying the friendship between Aragorn and Legolas as much as I am the mystery. And in the meantime there's that other Elf torture fic to look up. I'm having trouble tracking down Cassia's webpage - I know I've seen it before, but I can't find it now. Could you please post the URL to RMH? Thank you kindly, and wonderful work! Lamiel

This is a great story - sorry I dinīt review earlier! I love the way you take time with your story (many people rush things so much), but you never fail to keep the tension up anyway. Iīm looking forward to what dangers lie ahead. Alina

I absolutely love this story, and was excited to see a new chapter. Though I am not the most faithful reviewer, I must let you know I am always looking for an update to your wonderful story! Your writing is exceptional. Even in the no-action chapters I just hang on to every word. I have a feeling we're getting ready to see quite a bit of action coming up, though. Oops, I don't think Legolas wanted to hear that. Can't wait for more of this, Nightwing. Thank you!
