Frodo's willingness to hunt with his friends in spite of his continued distate for death of any sort is a good characterization. His willing adventurousness here is very reminicient of Bilbo. At last we understand Lash's motivations. This was quite interesting, but the part about the bear was unclear. Perhaps it will be made plain in the next chapter.

Intriguing news. This explains a bit about Lash, but still wondering about the woman and what developments the winter will bring. Also, just /what/ are they going to do with the cub? Do I have time to stock-up on popcorn? :D ! *waiting* Author Reply: Go get the popcorn - there's quite a bit of story still to come! What I'm getting curious about myself is Canohando's background -- he's pure orc, saddled with an insulting Orkish name -- hmm. But meantime, it's going to be a long winter on the mountain. jo

Ohhh, now this was unexpected! A bear-hunt. And Lash -- he did always seem different than the other two, but I never would have guessed... Wow! You're so creative. :) Tor-mrog... I'll be interested to see what comes of the bear cub. And I am glad that Frodo and Radagast will be staying, even though Lash's wife doesn't like the "Light-bearer" -- for good or ill, I think Radagast is right and there was a reason they were drawn here. Amazing, as always, Jo -- I can't wait for more! Author Reply: Well, Radagast promised the orcs they'd hunt better things than rats one day! A mountain bear seemed about the right size prey for them. I'm so glad you're enjoying it, Tathar! jo
