Ha! Those boys should have known something like that would happen. :-P

Oh, she showed them. It still isn't fair... but is life ever fair? I guess she'll make it through anyway, even with all those boys around.

Author Reply: We keep trying to convince the little hobbits that life isn't fair, but they keep insisting it ought to be...

Thanks!

I liked this story. It was diffeent, and I wouldn't mind seeing more of the same.

Oh, Lindelea, this was wonderful. It is the first story of yours I have read. I feel as though I've known "Cellie" for years. Now I must go back and read more!

I also loved being reminded of that song about the spider web. It was perfect for this story. I haven't heard it since I was a kid! Do you happen to have the complete lyrics. I'm going to have that verse stuck in my head for days!

Author Reply: Would you believe, I just now saw this review for the first time? Sorry for the late response.

Here are the lyrics I know:

Down in the valley, there's a mission by the old oak tree.
Down in the valley, there's a fountain where my love told me:
"It's a web like a spider's web,
made of silk or light or shadow,
spun by the moon in my room last night.
It's a web made to catch a dream;
hold it tight 'til I awaken,
as if to tell me that dream is all right."

I met a stranger. His name was Danger. We rode side by side.
Down in Santa Fe, I killed a man, they say. Danger told me to ride.
It's a web, etc.

Now if I return, they will hang me from the old oak tree.
Down in the valley there's a mission where my love told me:
"It's a web, etc."

Oh! This story is absolutely delightful! I love Cellie, as you might now (I'm certain that you do), and it's nice to see a story all for her. Poor lass, having to put up with those lads. Some cousins! But then, it's not like she *asked* to be a girl. Still, ever since you mentioned the writing of this, I have been longing to see it done... And it lives up to all of my expectations!

You have a great talent with taking a name on a page and giving that character life, depth. And Celandine is done just as well! In other, less coherent words, this story is absolutely perfect, and cute, and I love that streak of Cellie's. Happy early birthday to me...

Pippin is just as wonderful in this, and I love the Merrys, and Cellie is just the apple of my eye.

How adorable! You're such a great writer, Lindelea.

'It was my fault,' Pippin said. Really, Celandine thought to herself. Whatever were they thinking, to give him such enormous eyes? It's not fair!

'Think of the teasing!'
'Think of the tea!' Pippin retorted

What a delightful story!

Why does it not surprise me that teatime is chaotic at Brandybuck Hall? But what a determined little girl! The boys should have been nicer once she had them tied up. What were they thinking?
