You've done a fantastic job here with this tale. I was amused to see how Pippin seems to see himself as the 'great hero' of the Quest. Truly his ego seems, like his appetite, to know virtually no bounds. Frodo's newfound 'ability' to discern others' thoughts was an intriguing twist. I wonder if it means that he'll be able to pick up Sam's thoughts as well, since Sam did bear the Ring for a time. I look forward to seeing how this story progresses...Well done!

I am fascinated by the concepts you are raising in this story. You have spent a long time thinking about this plot line, and it shows in the careful articulation of ideas that you are putting forth. That Frodo underwent such a transformation is absolutely correct but no one has said it in so many words. What an original, creative plot line, open to any direction you care to take it. I'm not sure it is even so AU (yet) as everything you described could well have happened. I wanted to compliment you, too, on your swing from humor (Pippin's take on his role in the War of the Ring - so entirely in character!) to the sorrow and pain of Frodo's suffering. When I was reading how Frodo was feeling with the headache, it reminded me of how a migraine hurts - that pounding, that sharp pain. Even the description of the Elf-lord banishing it sounded like relief from a migraine. Such little touches of realism so add to a story. Wonderful idea. I'm looking forward to watching this story develop.

What Pippin said just solidified in my mind that this is going to be one great Shirebound fic... that was so precioussss on what he said... that whole dialogue: PRECIOUS!!! “You did not win the entire war by yourself, Peregrin,” Merry was saying quietly. “Yes, I did,” came Pippin’s sleepy voice. “Who woke up the Balrog so it could fight Gandalf and he could get more powerful and wizard-y than before? Who got us free so we could run into Treebeard and get him angry enough to rip Isengard to pieces? Who got Sauron’s attention in the Stone so Strider knew what would happen when he looked into it, and draw the Eye to him, and not Frodo and Sam?” Pippin stopped for breath. “Who was---” and then Sam says too bad you can't throw the Ring in and Pippin says "I couldn’t be everywhere at once, you know" LOL soooo funny =) aww Pippin~!! :D :D :D :D and this i liked too: Frodo saw that they were approaching the camp. “Please put me down before we’re seen; I don’t want anyone to fuss.” “You never do,” Elrond smiled, setting Frodo gently on his feet. yep..Frodo never wants to be fussed with... i guess hurt/comfort fanfic writers like that about Frodo's stubborness eh? lol (so therefore torture and comfort him some more lol =) can't wait for more Shirebound! =) great job.

*claps* I read this the day it was published, but forgot to review. *smacks wrist* But here I am! I love the way you write hobbits, particularly post-War. You manage to capture that innate innocence around them, but still imprint the wisdom/hurt their toils have brought. This is most evident in your Frodo. More specific to this story, I think you've set it up exceedingly well. *glowers at Galadriel* And so she should feel guilty! I like the way you've managed to twist Tolkien's own words enough to wring a unique Plot Bunny from them. Am interested to see where this will go, particularly with Gríma and Frodo. By the end of ROTK, I always thought of Wormtongue as a new Gollum, to a certain extent. It shall be intriguing to see how their interactions pan out.

Hi there! FFnet is being stingy once again, so I'm reviewing here. This is off to a great start - but that's no surprise. You're always opening my eyes to new perspectives I never considered before. It is true that Frodo had to train himself to dominate, not only Gollum, but the temptation of the Ring as well. But he still isn't prepared for all that the Ring has done to him. And Saruman's on the loose, ready to do damage? Can't wait to see what happens next. Oh, and I just finished Havoc in Hollin - lol. Pippin Frog and Legolas Frog! That was hilarious! I can just picture the expression on Merry's face when Gandalf put that frog in his hands. Yes, you definitely don't want to tick off a wizard!

"There may be no end to that of which the hobbits are capable." That's why we all write their continuing stories. We know Tolkien would have but he ran out of time. “You did not win the entire war by yourself, Peregrin,” Merry was saying quietly. “Yes, I did,” came Pippin’s sleepy voice." We Pippin fans have known this a long time, we've just had trouble convincing others of the truth ;) I eagerly await the rest of this story. It's a facinating idea.
