I'm crying

Just posted my MEFA review of this one, and while re-reading noticed a typo:
"and the bit of vieled sunlight"

Once again, congrats on a masterful piece of writing.

Author Reply: Whoopsy! Funny how those little typos slip through Spellcheck. Fixed now:o)
And thanks for the review(s)!

Author Reply: And I just went to the MEFA site, something I try not to do much so I don't make myself crazy...and I feel so humbled by the nice things you said about my little story. My head is on the desk and my face is so red I think it's in flames. Thank you so, so much. I think I may cry.

You write Merry and Pippin so beautifully. I particularly love Merry contrasting the Pippin he sees now with his little cousin covered in jam - it really brings home the changes that have been wrought in them both. You portray the agony of enforced separation and potential loss very effectively, too.

Author Reply: Thank you. I always try to keep the emotion in my stories low-key, and I worry sometimes that maybe it's a bit *too* low, and no one else will feel while they're reading it what I felt when I was writing it-I'm glad it came through.

Oh! This is so beautiful. As warm as Pippin's breath on Merry's hand. Beautiful!

You write the saddest, and yet the most lovely stories that I have read on any of these sites. This was very moving. You do a wonderful job.

Such a tender and good scene between the two cousins before Pip sets off. Well written!

O my, your stories just keep getting better. I started off with a smile, basking in the warmth of Merry and Pippin just being together and your vivid description of the scene, but by the end I was blinking away tears. Very effective writing. Lovely story, perfect balance. Am going to reluctantly tear myself away now and go back to real life.

Author Reply: Whoa, thanks! As I've mentioned before, if I can put tears in the eyes of a writer of *your* calibre(sp?), then I must be doing something right!
I did have a minor squabble with the Little Voices of the Muse the other day. "What's the deal with all this sad Merry and Pippin stuff?" I whined..er, asked. "When can I write something maybe a bit longer and more ambitious, something about *happy* hobbits?" They just laughed mercilessly and clouted me over the head with more unhappy-hobbit plotbunnies. So I guess I'll just have to depend on you for my allowance of hobbity joy for a while.
I do hope I'm improving my writing as I go along, and reviews from fanfic writers I respect give me the ego-boost that keeps me trying. Thanks so much for reading:o)
