I absolutely love this story, and in case you're interested, I've recommended it on my rec journal: http://community.livejournal.com/citrous_tea/25219.html Hope you don't mind. ;) Author Reply: I don't mind at all and I popped over and commented on your rec journal. (Hope that was ok.) Thank you so much for your review and for rec'ing the story. I noticed that you had rec'd "Hound of The Bagginses" at some point too on your LJ and I thank you for that also. You've given me my smile for the day!

I just found this little gem a couple of days ago and finished reading it today. As a physician who deals with patients with Alzheimer disease, I must compliment you on your "hobbity" descriptions of what it would be like for the Cotton family. And then you added Pippin's search for Merry in Minas Tirith, and that added an entire other layer of angst. This is one I will go back and read again in the future. Author Reply: Why thank you. I appreciate your kind words and I am glad to see that I was accurate in this. I know people who are dealing with the illness of a family member and it is such a very sad thing for everyone involved. I am sure that you see far too much of it in your work. Thank you for the lovely review and for the work that you are doing. Take care.

This is absolutely beautiful! I have read many stories dealing with Pippin's search for Merry, and I have to say that this is the best of them. You could have just done the search, but the little story framing it gave it so much more immediacy and poignancy. And the timing of it: just before Pippin's majority, just before Merry and Estella marry, puts it at a place when he would have many important changes in his life. If I started to list all the little touches that made this story so great, I'd just end up quoting the whole thing, but a few that stood out for me: Pippin saying how much he missed Frodo and Bilbo whenever he came to Bag End; Estella worrying about getting old and forgetful while Pippin worried about his father; and the way Pippin ploughed through telling Rose such a hard story because he thought it might help her. And you just seemed to capture Pippin's personality so well, telling it in his voice. *Sigh* just beautiful! Author Reply: Wow! Thank you so much for this lovely review. Coming from you, when I have been enjoying your stories so much, it means even more. So happy to hear that the frame story worked, because I am never sure with the extras. I didn't want it to take away from the tale of the search, but I was trying to give the story a different view. I am so pleased that it came across well. As to the Frodo/Bilbo Bag End reference, I always thought that it would be hard for all of them to go into Bag End at times, missing the Bagginses the way that they all did. Thank you for reviewing.

A very sweet and touching story. The things that our little hobbits suffered...poor Pippin. Thank you for sharing this story! :-) Pippinfan Author Reply: So glad that you liked it. I had fun writing this one from Pippin's POV and it is the only one that I have done where it was a first person deal so I was nervous about it. Thanks for reviewing!
