| Ooh. A cross Pippin, and Ferdi, whom I've met in some of your other stories. And Sam doesn't want to be Mayor again? Well, unless this is AU, we know he loses *that* argument. Hmm... Author Reply: Well, you know I seldom *intentionally* write AU. So the trick is to write the facts, yet make them fresh and interesting. Thanks! | |

| What a wonderful tale of hobbits and wild Rohan-hobbit ponies! It has a wonderful flavor and pacing and comfortable characterizations. Very enjoyable. Author Reply: Thank you for the feedback! And thanks for the technical advice that makes the story more "real". I've learned much about horses... almost makes me wish I had my old mare back, with all her faults and foibles, to try some of these newfangled (to me anyhow) techniques on her... | |

| Lovely that Goldilocks managed to brighten Ferdi's day, he really is wonderful with children. Pippin isn't a happy camper, too bad he is letting Ferdi feel the sharp of of his irritation. Author Reply: Yes, had to start their friendship off on a firm footing, seeing as how later he asks in jest if he can adopt the little mite. Pippin is not happy, no. Wonder if Ferdi can help him resolve the situation? He listens more than he talks, but he might have an idea or two. Thanks for the comments! | |

| The first chapter has a spirited but unmanagable pony. The second has an equally intractable Thain. I say put them in the same room and let them fight it out. Maybe they can knock some sense into each other. Actually, it's fun to go back to Pip in his early years as Thain, and see just how much struggle he had to go through to become the wise and much-loved leader he is in the later stories. (And I see that Sam had to deal with his own doubts in his position.) Again we have the faithful Ferdi as observer and commentary. I really like this time period, and I'm looking forward to another great story. Author Reply: Knock some sense into each other? What fun! Pip did manage to get Socks on his side, after all. You've read "Knitting Socks", haven't you? I like this time period too, and this story is a sort of relief valve from the heaviness of "Rain". It will have a bit of angst, but nothing like the other story. Thanks for reviewing! | |
