That was wonderfully written! I'm going to favorite this story & author. One of the things I felt you did here was explain why Elrond was hesitant about letting Pippin go on the journey. You could feel his immaturity.

Ok this was definitely your best so far!!! I loved it sooooooo much I'm trying to read them in order haha and so far nothing can equal this. It really covered a gap that tolkien left and i'm glad that someone had the sense to fill it in correctly :) so good jod it was great!

Thank you for a wonderfully engaging tale. I have often thought about what those first days in Rivendell were like. I loved the detail--from the surgery to the food and found myself alternately shivering with apprehension and laughing out loud.

Ah - finally! Thank you for the last chapter - even for the hint of sadness at the end, when Merry dreams about going home, and everone knows that he will not go home for a very long time, and that there are frightening adventures to come in the future...You kept me on the hook all the time; you're very good writer, really. Thank you again!

A most satisfying end to a nightmarish story, Budgielover. Peace finally reigns in Rivendell now that the shard is out and Frodo is going to recover. But I can't help but shudder at Merry's ending words. We’ll be home soon. As soon as Frodo is strong enough to travel, we can go home… Our part in this is finished, and I’m glad of it. We can all of us go home. I almost wish I had never read the rest of FOTR. I know what's going to happen. :(

Great story! Thank you for posting it. :)

I have just discovered your stories, and I just had to post a review and tell you how wonderful they ALL are! Being an elf lover myself, I have overlooked hobbit-centered stories, but you drew me in and boy, was I hooked! This one in particular....hey, I knew what was going to happen with Frodo, but the added details were absolutely riveting! Your portrayal of the strong loving relationship between the hobbits is especially affecting, and I love the portrait of Elrond you've painted. He often seems so.....elvish and distant..so above everyone, and you've let that show through, but so much more also has been revealed of his character and emotions. I thank you for that...I've always thought that to be a caring father, those facets of his character had to be there somewhere. You don't often see them written about effectively. Thanks for a wonderful story! May you write many, many more!

Oh, *laughs*, I guess Aragorn's "ah, no" was not anything very serious. It did make me sad there that last thoughts of Merry's about going home as soon as Frodo was well enough and that their part is ended. If only that was true! Such a fun story! Thank you!

*sigh* This is nearly as bittersweet an ending as LOTR's. We know they don't get to go home . . . yet. This was beautifully written, and heartache and joy to read.

I feel sorry for Merry, knowing that he's not going to see his parents again for a long time. I'm glad that nothing terrible happened to Frodo in this chapter. Thank you for writing this!

Golly. You had me on the edge of my seat throught the whole tale, even though I knew how it would end.

Those poor folk all seem exhausted and, as a reader, I am too. So much excitement and angst. I enjoyed every sylable.
