Here I am reading, way past my bedtime. The last chapters are, as noted, a little rougher than the earlier ones, but not so much that I found them unwieldy. I really like your OC and how she has developed; she feels very natural and I love seeing her grow up with the responsibilities she faces. If you would like a beta, I am more than willing to beta future chapters. Let me know.

you have to write more of this! Its very good, I'm also writing a fic about a woman in Rohan, but its set in the time of Helm instead. I love Rohan; there so many spaces for fics : ) you write very well and im dying to read more! Author Reply: Thanks, Elfique - glad you're enjoying it! Rohan is one of my favourite settings for fics as well; it's such a fascinating culture. Unfortunately, the next update won't be for a while as I'm going away on vacation. Look for it in mid-August.

Actually this is a very good title - not just from the viewpoint of a last stand, but because the role of women throughout warfare is one of keeping things going, managing the house and the fields and finding food and shelter with no-one to help them - only to have their role completely disregarded on the return of the heroic fighters, who then put them to one side with a kindly pat on the head, because they are only women and need someone to look after them. A very important and totally unappreciated group of people
