Oh dear! I hope Pip gets safely back to the wedding, without being accosted by the dogs--otherwise Ferdi will never let him hear the end of it!

Adorable chapter, especially the last bit.

I do like your OC hobbits! Looking forward to the rest of this. Nice having Thain Pippin acting like regular folk. Pearl Took Author Reply: Thanks for taking the time to write three reviews! You're feeling low? I'm sorry to hear that. You are such an affecting writer; I love your style and the "realness" of your stories. I think we are our own worst critics. I know when I get a bunch of hits on a chapter (or a few hits... LOL) and no reviews, or only one or two, the negative thoughts start. Why do we assume that the readers hated the chapter if they don't say anything? But looking at the reviews on "When We Dwelt in Fear", I see that you have drawn some of the best writers in fanfic to read your stories. Take heart. As a matter of fact, I *had* read and commented on that story quite awhile ago, in one of the very early chapters. I had actually forgotten the story until I saw the update the other day, and then I gobbled all the chapters at once, but since I read them backwards (starting with the last one posted, which I reviewed), I didn't want to review them in reverse order, for some reason. It just seemed... well, not quite right. I often do that, read the first chapter of a book and then the last chapter, and then read backwards from there. What does that say about me? I'm afraid to find out! *g* I outline my stories the same way. Odd. But it is easier to write when I have a target to aim at. *hugs* and hope this finds you feeling more cheerful.

The ending two lines about lambs to the slaughter made this chapter very effective. I also liked that the farmer thought Pippin just seemed like regular folks and had never seen the Thain before. One thing I can always count on when I read your stories, if there is a wedding, then there's bound to be trouble! LOL I am sensing a theme here. Author Reply: Thanks for reviewing! I must admit I've done more writing than reading lately, but I ought to be entering my recurring slump soon (the period where I cannot write, can only edit and read and comment) and so you can look forward to more reviews. Of course there's always trouble when there's a wedding! Didn't you know that it's bad luck for a wedding to come off without a hitch? The next chapter ought to be quite exciting (am researching and consulting my source on horse behaviour, so it's not quite finished), and the one after that was such fun to write, I can hardly wait to post it. Hopefully that'll be soon. Author Reply: Oops, I was wrong. The next chapter had some necessary background material, not exciting at all, but the *next* chapter after that (#13, hmmm, there's an interesting coincidence. I wonder if hobbits are superstitious about numbers) is the exciting one.
