| Wow. Either you have a medical background or you did your homework well. Tolman's triage was good. I like it that he accurately predicted that Gliver would faint. That hobbit is quite a handy fellow to have around. I loved Ascallon's behavior. Surely you have experience with horses, and I say that not because of the extraordinary things she did, like lowering herself to bear her wounded master, but because of the little nuances: the way she came tearing up at Tolman, snuffling Gliver and nudging Legolas with her muzzle. Those mannerisms are so authentic. She almost speaks with them. But...darn it, you blew up the elf. Worse yet, you mussed his hair. I must read on in the hope that it will all be repaired. ~TF Author Reply: Well I am an Occupational Therapist by trade, more used to fixing up the results of disaster than treating it acutely, but familiar enough with medical things.(And share an office with District Nurses, who insist on telling me about bodily fluids, ewwww) And you are right, my daughter owned idiosyncratic horses for years - and no doubt will again once she has finished university - I am glad the horses speak to you because there is no doubt in RL they used to speak to me.(rarely politely I must add.) | You so have a talent for plotting. You know, Rose - I love how you always have Tom talking to his horse. King Elfwine was not a happy man. Nineteen dwarves killed and the Lord of Ithilien hanging between life and death in the care of his great friend, Gimli, and all on Edoras’ doorstep, so to speak. I guess he wasn't happy, now was he. I love seeing that kind of stuff in the middle of grimness. Now give 'em all German names and send this off to an agent. Author Reply: Well that made me laugh out loud! Hah, the answer is German names! love it. I might even try it. But do you realise this tome has about 60 non-canon OF names already, not to mention about thirty canon and original place names - cripes, that's a lot of German. While I wait for the muses to strike again I might use search/replace and see if the 80000 word beomoth Adagio/Mayflies/Cadenza flies. A fantasy book, oh my. Thanks for the idea, and the review! | This was appropriately gruesome in places. Your description of the dead was chilling. But just as in Tolkien, a Hobbit saves the day. Legolas sounds very badly injured. I'm worried. | Ai, poor Legolas! He really doesn't sound too good. Thank goodness Tolman has been trained as a healer. I've read this on ff.net, but I can't review there. I hope you continue the tale!
