Oooo yuk, cold wet elf, cold wet horse, raging waters. Cough - makes my eyes water just to think of it. What an interesting bridge design, always fascinating to see how pre-industrial folk managed their environment. More soon please? Poor lost leggy away from home, its worrying. Rose Author Reply: Yes, poor Legolas, being caught in flood water is *not* fun. And I have even better plans in store for him soon!

Excellent! I especially enjoyed the bridge you described. Your story is easy to read, which not all stories are. (Some other stories I find quite confusing as to what is actually happening). I look forward to the next chapter! Just a comment: I don't believe there were any giant moths in Tolkien, but I'm no expert. Fire is well known for frightening animals away, so the only reason for not building a fire (that I can think of) would be to avoid being seen by men. Also, I had the impression Legolas was stronger than the horse, when he didn't care how hard he pulled on the mane and then hauled the horse sideways. My limited experience with horses is they can't be moved unless they want to. Flowing water of great depth is always stronger than anyone can imagine. I wouldn't be surprised if both the horse and Legolas were swept away. Still, this doesn't detract from a really good story! Keep up the good work! Author Reply: There's a chapter in The Hobbit ('Flies and Spiders') where the dwarves build a fire while travelling through Mirkwood. They could see 'hundreds and hundreds of eyes all round them', and 'moths, some nearly as big as your hand' attracted to the fire. Pavisel is of course an elven horse, so he'd know what Legolas was trying to do, and would co-operate. That's my excuse, anyway! Many thanks for the review, I'm so glad you like it!

Wonderfullly descriptive! I felt as if I was along side Legolas all the way, from the woods and into the cold water. Author Reply: Brr! And it *is* cold, even for a elf. I'm glad you liked the descriptions, it's based on what Tolkien said in The Hobbit about Mirkwood.

Scary moment! And this may be odd of me, but I'm worried about the horse. Author Reply: You're not the only one! Fear not, do I look like I would harm innocent animals? (Elves, yes, but animals, no) Jay
