Do you think he ordered them to regroup, join Gil-galad's troops? Lovely drabble of a time that has always created curiosity in me!

Even though this was about a battle there seemed to be a sort of shell-shocked stillness to the narrative. It increased the grim irony of your image of Thranduil kneeling by his father weeping as the warriors acknowledge his ascendancy. Very moving. ~TF

Very moving. ~TF Author Reply: I think seeing his father fall would be a moment frozen in time for Thranduil. Two-thirds of Oropher's elves died - but this was his own father :(

Tell 'em to forget the nicities for now and get back to the fighting! Well, I still liked it. Just foolin'. Author Reply: Poor Thranduil wouldn't have had much time to mourn his father, would he? Despite his own grief, he'd have to fight or be killed as well.

Drabbles are so hard to write as you have to be very careful with your words. I have enjoyed reading your drabbles. You have painted many word pictures in what seems like the minimum of effort. Looking forward to the next one. Author Reply: Thank you for your kind words - I like writing drabbles, and certainly find some easier than others. I'm finding the companion piece to this, from Oropher's POV, much harder!

Very touching. I especially liked the description of Thranduil's tears as "scalding". That is an evocative word choice, much more descriptive, with a far greater impact than the usually used "hot". Good job! :) Author Reply: It seems clear from 'Unfinished Tales' that Thranduil was part of that first assault on Mordor, and probably at his father's side. It can't have been an easy time.
