| Interesting. The sterile newness, the dust, the rough-hewn wood,the noise, it all adds to Thranduil's feeling of oppression and yet it seems to mirror his bleak discontent as well. It was a treat to see a young, relatively naive Elrond. So enjoying this story! TF Author Reply: You know, a new and empty dorm room can feel something like that. Fortunately, I spent my Christmas break making some showy Thranduil banners to give those stark walls some character. ;) Well, I hope you're having more fun than I am, sitting here waiting for Latin class. And of course I'm thrilled to death to see somebody else enjoying this run-on plot bunny as much as I am! | |

| I read in the reviews of I Return that you have less time because of college. I certainly understand that but I hope when you finish I Return you will find some time to slowly update this story. I really love it and its very original. Author Reply: I'll certainly try to update as often as I can, but unfortunately they seem to have neglected to schedule a class for fanfic. ;) | |

| I love seeing the early part of Thranduil's relationship with Elrond. I think the characterization fits perfectly as a backstory for the few things we know in cannon about Thranduil and Oropher's relationship with the other elves. I particularly loved the Sindarin/Noldorin language contrast. Very cannon and very meaningful. Author Reply: I think you've just summed up everything I've been working toward. Thanks a bunch. :) | |

| That was an enlightening conversation--and I've never seen Elrond portrayed as *younger* than Thranduil, I don't think. I suppose Elrond became as powerful and highly-regarded as he did because he had no qualms about becoming the servant of the Noldor and from there rising within the ranks, unlike Thranduil. We get to see more of Thranduil's independent spirit, and I like how talking to Elrond spurs him into going back home and getting started on rebuilding. I also like Illuiniel. "Will someone like you lose heart over a little something like the end of the world? For shame." Heh. I think Thranduil needed to hear that. Author Reply: That seems to be a relatively unexplored possibility, but if Thranduil was born in Doriath, and Elrond was of course not born until Earendil and Elwing were married in Sirion, it would stand to reason. :) Yes, it seems Elrond was not adverse to taking the stairs, while Oropher and Thranduil insisted on beating their way through the bush. But sometimes there can be advantages in doing it the long and hard way. I think they ALL needed to hear that! | |
