Hi, I'm normally a lurker (one of those horrible people who enjoy many stories without letting authors know how much they enjoyed the story). However, I had to leave my lurkdom to let you know how much I enjoyed the cameo from your other story "The Touch". I don't know if you did that on purpose, but it certainly seemed as though you did and I had to crack up laughing as my questions from The Touch (i.e. why was Elrohir's arm in a sling) was answered. Although I think you had implied in the other story that Elrohir's injuries were do to orcs, so maybe this was sort of a prequel. In any case, I liked it and while I'm here not hiding behind my rock, let me compliment you on all of your stories, which I enjoy very much ("To The Ends of Middle Earth" is a bit too depressing for me though, but I suppose life doesn't always give us happy endings). :0) Thanks for writing so many wonderful stories! Every time you write a new story or chapter, it manages to brighten my day a little... -Felice Author Reply: Thank you! Reviews like that brighten *my* day. The link to 'The Touch' was very much on purpose, although they are two separate events ('The Touch' takes place many centuries after this story). But the events seemed so similar I used Elladan's same words. Well spotted! This chapter is not supposed to sound remotely slashy, though. I'm glad you like my stories - I usually mix angst and humour. Some tales have more of one and less of the other, but there is humour in 'Ends Of Middle Earth', even though it's mostly angst ... Thanks again for unlurking!

Finally - a little welcome relief for Leg'as and all concerned! I'm sure his recovery will be slow and painful still, but he seems to have "turned the corner", so to speak. I loved the interaction between Elrohir and Elladan - Elrohir is a stubborn and independent elf, isn't he? And easily frustrated when he can't do for himself. But Elladan seems to deal with him well - when they're not insulting each other. lol *sigh* and I loved the last part where Thranduil crawls into bed with his son - so characteristic of the good father he is! (yea, Calmacil - you keep on keeping the King in line!) *g* linda Author Reply: Legolas is indeed better, but I still have plans for this story. I love the twins, and see them as very close, but very competitive. They understand one another more than any one else can. And Thranduil - even the King knows when to submit!

Before you mentioned the conception thing it hadn't occurred to me that the elves would consider Elladan and Elrohir to be the same age! I liked the idea of Elrond being enthusiastic with drugs. I'm with daw on the torn nails thing, though, it almost sounds worse than the shoulder injury! Author Reply: Bearing in mind they are identical, there is only a single conception in any case - but I doubt the elves would know the difference on a cellular level between identical and non-identical twins. It niggles me when people tend to refer to the 'older' or 'younger' twin - it sounds as if there are years between them rather than, at the most, minutes. You must have been reading too much torture, Nic - I only meant Elrohir's nails were broken, not pulled from his fingers! That does sound awful!

Ahh, Legolas is at last getting better, albeit slowly - relief all around. With the twins around, I am sure his healing will accelerate. The picture that you have created of Thranduil sleeping aside his son is very touching and comforting, and speaks volumes of the king's love for his son. Author Reply: I love good!Thranduil, and think he's a very loving father, even if Legolas does make him age prematurely. The twins - and especially Arwen - play an important part in Legolas's recovery later.

Oh, I'm so gladd Legolas is doing better. It was very sweet that Thranduil chose to curl up in Legolas's bed. Loved that! :-D Have you written the story of fall from the rooftops of Imladris and I somehow missed it? Author Reply: I haven't written that story yet, but I will one day - probably as part of 'Two By Two'; but Elrohir has suffered enough in that story for now. Glad you liked the image of Thranduil on the bed - I did too.

Nicely done chapter--and nice tie-in to "The Touch!" Author Reply: I'm so glad someone spotted that! The scenes were so similar, I used Elladan's same comment ;)

I just love the relationship you have built up between all the children. Squashing down the age differences makes them much better able to interact with each other. Elladan and Elrohir are so good together, but it is lovely to see them caring for Arwen and interacting with a similarly aged Legolas. Poor Elrond cannot have known which way to turn with this crisis - I am glad they are recovering. Perhaps now the parents will have the chance to get over the trauma! Author Reply: I feel a bit guilty about altering canon like that with Arwen, but can't change it now! I could make up Legolas's age, as no one knows anyway. But I'm glad you like their relationships. Thranduil is still worried about Legolas, but things will be easier now.

Jay, you are doing great with the medical stuff - its not too much and its well shown. Good for the healer, finally putting Thranduil to bed. Sedating a parent after their child's trauma is also common. I am glad Legolas has a bit of a sense of humor back, and I liked the twins banter as well. I think too that they can tease each other in ways no one else can. Author Reply: Nilmandra, thank you so much for your help with the medical side. I decided it was time Thranduil got a break - and it's not the first time Calmacil has forced him. You're right about the twins - if anyone else ever teased one of them like that, the other would be there in a flash!

It is nice to see at least some healing time for our precious elves. Immortal does not mean indestructible, all too often our heroes are up and about again after major trauma so quickly they could all be nicknamed 'Timex' (takes a licking and keeps on ticking Nice interactions, and even drug side-effects! Thanks Rose Author Reply: I wanted to show that both Elrohir and Legolas don't feel too good at the moment, and the petty frustrations they both suffer as a side effect. Legolas, especially, isn't going to be bouncing back for a while.

I know it's irrational but the injury that makes me cringe the most is the torn nails. There's just something about that that gives me the creeps. I'm happy to see first Elrohir and then Legolas on the mend. Poor Thranduil. He must be exhausted. Author Reply: I pictured Elrohir clinging to the rock, and what damage he'd do to his hands. The nails had to go. There's no serious damage though, we're not in the realms of torture. I like Calmacil - there are not many who can order Thranduil to do something, and even fewer he will obey without argument.
