| When I first saw this update, I kept thinking, "Now where have I seen this story before?"....and then I read the chapter and thought,"I HAVE read this before!"...and then saw the review mentioning the MC site...and I remembered! Yea! It made me cry then, and made me cry again today when I reread the whole thing! I must say your treatment of this subject (I can't bear to say it! *sob*) from his friends' POV is very powerful and moving, especially the way each character has their own chapter to reminisce in (and tying it to other stories you've written makes it more meaningful to me, now that I've read most of your other work). It's just a sad, sad event...heroic, but tragic...and you've caught the reactions of disbelief, anguish, grief, and even anger (poor Gimli!) quite well. linda Author Reply: When I first wrote this (it was the first fic I ever wrote!) the memories were all there were. Since then, many of those thoughts have been fleshed out into stories of their own. I'm glad you like it - it's sad, and can even make *me* cry. | |
