gosh, you have floored me AGAIN!!
Poor Frodo and Sam, ageing before their time. Why did they send for Gandalf tho?
I love how in your stories at the end a new (and often quite touching) element is revealed, like Sam's lock of white hair.

Author Reply: Thank-you! They sent for Gandalf in hopes that he would know what was causing the white hair (and he did. Good ol' Gandalf). I'm glad you liked the end. I love writing my stories with an ending that sticks.

but it is a sign that a person has gone through a time or many times of desperation and very high tension. The stress will cause the person’s hair to lose coloring in certain parts.

I guess I must be a very stressed person for I also have a lot of gray hair. Poor Frodo, btw, Tialys. He must accept unfavorable things due to his quest.

Author Reply: lol. Actually, I read somewhere that it's not really like getting grey hair, but totally losing the coloring because of one really harsh moment. Can't remember where I saw that though... Yes, poor Frodo. Thank-you!

There are some wonderful elements to this story that I like so much.

I really believe that solitude is the one thing that eluded Frodo for a very long time after the War of the Ring - but perhaps something that he sought as often as he could to hide away from his dreadful times.

There is light-hearted banter between Pippin and Frodo upon finding the lock of hair - but very in character with both hobbits and their personalities and traits.

Very well done with this story. It was well written and sparked an interest.

Thank you for sharing your talent. Will definitely be willing to read more from you in the future.

Author Reply: Thank-you! I'm glad you thought the characterization was smooth and also that the idea was not too far-fetched. Feel free to read more ^_^

Tialys,

For your first fic, I found this to be a good, well written tale. From a physical perspective, it makes sense that Frodo and Sam would experience changes like the one in their hair, much as humans do under stressful conditions. I can personally attest to that fact myself, due to having a hint of silver here or there in my hair at the dear age of 33. I hope to see more of your work in the near future.

Author Reply: Thanks, but this definitely isn't my first fic. I have quite a few more posted here. The idea of the hair came from a documentary about stress and such and I found it an interesting concept. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
