"In fact, they may be the only pair of known elven twins who do not have the blood of Men in their veins." I think you forgot Fëanor's youngest sons, Amrod and Amras. Considering that Elerinna is descended from Mahtan, I would have thought that in her of all families, it would not be that much of a "scandal". Author Reply: That's true. Maybe I should have added the word 'living'. Maybe being like Feanor is enough of a scandal in itself! It can't be too comfortable reminding people of that connection - even after three ages plus.

Twins! I'm dying!! Sounds exactly like someone I know. I can just hear Lego saying it.....saying it....saying it......lolol Author Reply: Poor Legolas. Such a shock. It's not as if he has twins in his family at all. Although I suppose Elerrina might! And it's not as if he doesn't know some of the difficulties of being close to twins.

Giving Legolas twins is great, and having one be a daughter is grand but you know, Elrond had twins, possibly his uncles were twins, depending on what version of HoME you read - I'd sure hate to see that tradition break. :) I'm afraid Elrohir may need that or worse. We'd hate for him to feel left out, wouldn't we? Author Reply: It would be a shame, wouldn't it? Twin males, h'mm. I sort of feel that Elros and Elrond are fraternal twins rather than identical. Elladan and Elrohir are identical. Not sure about Elwing's brothers. Then Elrohir's wife seems to be having a bit of trouble getting pregnant - maybe the elven equivalent of fertility drugs . . . Could we be looking at a multiple birth - no, that would be going too far. Of course, the first-born don't need to follow tradition - there could be later elflings. We will have to see!

Well, ain't that a kick in the teeth! As my sister said, one baby took up all her time and two babies couldn't take up any more than all her time. At least Elerinna will presumably have help. Good luck in getting any sleep, Legolas honey! Author Reply: I wonder if it is a reward from the Valar - the trouble with rewards being that they are often not quite what you want. The only thing with elves and twins is that it is probably the only way you get siblings before you are grown up - the sons of Elrond are 100+ years older than Arwen; you have 60-ish years between Legolas and Eilian - all of them more or less grow up as only elflings. And here we have a little flock of elflings of very similar age. Yes - plenty of unseen, unheralded help rallying round to do all the tedious tasks, enabling the lords and ladies the luxury of leisure.

Brilliant twist! Not completely unprecedented, however--two of Feanor's seven sons were twins, and I believe Ellerina is descended from Feanor's half-brother, the king of the Noldor in Valinor, no? Author Reply: In my head she is descended from Mahtan the Smith, whose daughter Nerdanel married Feanor and produced his brood of sons - so if there is a genetic link between the production of twins and maternal inheritance, that would indeed work. I don't think twins are very common, though.

Yay Legolas is going to ne an Ada. He and Ellerina will make wonderful parents. Thranduil will b thrilled. It wouldn't suprise me if Ellerina's parents are nasty about it but oh well if there are it will just be more of a reason to settle a new Eryn Lasgalen. Thanks Jule Author Reply: Well - children can bring families together, or they can smash them to bits. Author Reply: Sorry, got interrupted there. There's something about the arrival of grandchildren that makes people rub their hands in glee, with a sort of 'now it's your turn. Just let me watch and laugh' feel to it. We'll have to see how they all get on. I think they will have to find a new home. I can't see Thranduil sitting twiddling his thumbs for too long before needing somewhere to rule.

Ha, ha hahahahahahahahahaha! That'll learn me for suggesting things. Well done, Legolas suitably shocked, wonderful reactions from both the other twins and voices off. Bravo, bravo. claps Rose Author Reply: It's not the same as counting up heaps of slaughtered orcs, is it? Poor Legolas - the first pair of elven twins in Valinor. Should be fun.

Twins. LOL. Poor Legolas, but I knew one of them would have to have twins - and that if it was Legolas, E2 would find it hysterical. One of each will be nice, but identical ellyth would have been an interesting twist. Elrohir seems a little sad to have been left behind, I think. Jay Author Reply: You are so right! What a point to miss. If they were human, they could have made a mistake, but I reckon that, as elves, they would know. Poor Elrohir - and Sirithiel. But I'm sure they will catch up soon.
