Yes...it would be hard not to have something to *do* after so many months of just going and going every day. I never thought if that, but so true... I like that Aragorn and Gandalf left them a bunch of candles, that was nice (and very perceptive). Author Reply: Thank you. I can imagine Frodo and Sam's tent so clearly. It's a pleasure to ensure that they have everything they need.

Such a nice moment between my favorite hobbitses. It is quite something to be afraid of any sound. I think that is a good point to make since they've been hunted so long. Author Reply: Thank you, my friend. I loved writing this story, and tried hard to find new ways to experience familiar scenes.

I apparently missed this one when it was posted. But the image of Frodo lying there in the light of the candles, Sam lighting them and Aragorn and Gandalf thinking to leave them there is so wonderful! Very poignant, and a reminder that recovery included not having for them to be always on the watch as they had had to do for so long. Not only Aragorn needed thought at waking, after all. Author Reply: Recovery takes place on so many levels. I like imagining that little details (such as candles) were thought of, just in case they were needed.

Oooh, what a beautiful story! Lots of comfort in Ithilien... Light. “Oh Sam,” Frodo sighed, “that’s exactly what I needed. It was so dark, for so long, that---” *sniffle* I just want to cuddle them both. They deserve so much light and peace, and I'm so happy you give it to them. :)

Shirebound, I have been so far behind lately...but I am glad to catch you at the start of this story. I love your Sam - I hear him, as if he were in the room with me. And how precious light must be to them, after the days of darkness in Mordor. I love Sam's plans too - ever the practical hobbit.

A nice picture of the aftermath. It never occurred to me that Frodo would be at a loss, shivering at the sound of a twig snap, unfocused and not sure what to do next... but very logical. I love the foresight of leaving the candles handy "just in case". Such loving attention to detail on Aragorn's part... and yours.

I think this is a great idea for a set of linked stories, and the beginning piece set a nice tone. I think the two most prevalent symbols in LOTR are Tolkien's uses of light and water, so I'm thrilled to see someone exploring one of those facets. Can't wait to read more!

This story has a healing balm in it. The words themselves are somehow soothing and uplifting. Oh light, beautiful, wonderful light. I love Sam's common-sense, the reclaiming of Frodo's memories piece by piece, I love it all. Thank you so much for this, I needed just such a reminder of peaceful, comfortable joy.

This is just simply lovely! I think you have captured both Sam and Frodo perfectly, and I liked the fact that Frodo has no idea what to do next and turns to Sam for guidence. Nice touch with the candles chsing away the darkness in both room and thought :) I look forward to see more of this story! Love, Aewyn
