oooooohhhhhh! Scary stories around the campfire! Life can not get any better than that (unless you have a bunch of elven warriors telling the scary stories....sigh!!!!...and they can protect you when you get all scared!! *vbg, along with another bigger sigh!!!!!) ;-) This was a great chapter - great interactions all around, not only between Legolas and Tavaro, but also with the other warriors. I can just see Legolas snatching up that last bit of rabbit, and THEN asking if he could have it. I have a 20-year-old bratling that STILL does that...can you believe it??? :-) The archery contest aptly shows the skills of a young Legolas to be greater than average....oh - and he was even halfway modest about beating his brother (generous of him to acknowledge his bro didn't have his own bow - good kid!!) The best part tho' had to be the conversation Tavaro had with the patrol captain at the end - it is good to be reminded just how precious the lives are that they protect every day!! Well done, Manderly! linda Author Reply: I am sure Legolas would not have by-passed the tales of gore, even given nightmares and all. I have a 21 year old who routinely snatches food from my plate, not to mention cleaning out whatever private stash I have hidden in the fridge. It's nice to know that I have company. My vision of the Legolas that I have created is that he is spoiled, but generally though a good kid, otherwise his family would not be so doting if he was truly a brat. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Well, you've done it again...you've put this stupid, idiotic grin on my face! LOL I just loved this chappy! It is so full of happiness and brotherly love. *sigh* To be Leggy's brother...*double sigh* Isn't Tavaro lucky to be with Legolas on this trip? ;) Heh, heh! Well, let's see...parts I liked best. Ah, yes, one of them was Legolas' morbid curiosity of the spiders! LOL He's fascinated by them it seems, though we all know that fascination turns to disgust and a little bit of fear when he's older! Especially when he's almost eaten by them while on his way to warn Feren and Aldeon about the approaching orcs in From Princeling to Warrior. I loved the way Tavaro teased Legolas that he wouldn't fight an Elfling over a bony piece of rabbit meat. LOL That really got me laughing. I could just see Legolas little hands covered with juices as he asks that question! LOL And the way Leggy fell asleep against Tavaro while listening to stories...such a perfect way for him to end the night. He's such a typical child yet so extraordinary in so many ways. And the way Tavaro takes care of him and puts him to bed really makes my heart smile. :) Oooh, and of course, before I forget, the dedication that the two guards show in taking care of Leggy and Tavaro is so heartwarming, though I think I've said that before. ;) But, really, it's true. Their devotion to the two princes just shows how much the people and warriors of Mirkwood love the royal family. Ah, and of course, how could I forget that statement uttered by the captain of the patrol..."It is well that we are reminded, however briefly, of what we are fighting so hard to protect." That was such a nice touch. Kinda reminded me a little of what Peter Jackson set out to do for the battle of Helms Deep. He cut to the women and children hidden in the cave to remind the audience what warriors were fighting for...not just the women and children, but their right to exist. For surely, without women ;) and children, the world of man, er, Elves, heh, heh, would cease to exist. :) Very nice touch with that statement. :) Wow, Tavaro overslept, huh? LOL I guess Legolas tired him out more than he realized. See, it's a good thing Baragallon and Aradun are along for the ride. Can you imagine the mischief Legolas may have gotten into if he were alone and his brother were sleeping? I cringe to think at that. LOL Aw, Leggy has such a kind and generous heart. Even though he beat his brother, he made sure to point out that Tavaro did not have his own bow. That was so touchingly sweet. I love Legolas as an adult Elf and I love him even more as an Elfling. *sigh* I don't think he could lose that quality of innocence about him, even if he tried. :) All right, I think I've blabbed enough about this chappy. LOL Of course, you know me, I can't wait for the next one! :) LOL I can only hope you will hurry with it. :) The road goes ever on and on... ;) Author Reply: Wow, your review is almost as long as my chapter. Thank you! This was a fun chapter to write. I think I am enjoying myself as much as Legolas. Things always seem so much nicer through a child's eyes. I like writing about the closeness of the two brothers. I've always thought that if siblings can get along, then everything else will just fall into place. I don't know whether a warrior such as Tavaro would ever oversleep or sleep so deeply that he is oblivious to all else around him, but I decided to add that little blurb into this chapter anyway. Legolas is quite the generous little elfling, isn't he in not taking all the credit for the archery challenge.

What a fun evening and morning for Legolas! Tavaro had better hope that Legolas doesn't repeat those stories at home. Thranduil knows everything, remember Tavaro??? And it's nice to see Legolas's skill with a bow, but I'm glad he remembered that Tavaro wasn't using his own bow. That was generous of him. Author Reply: Legolas must be having the time of his life and Tavaro, not knowing any better yet, is probably enjoying himself as well. I think Tavaro has forgotten that he was the one who told Legolas that Adar knows everything, unless he thinks the statement doesn't apply to him. I am sure no matter what happens, Thranduil will end up knowing everything.
