Oh, I loved this little scene in the book! It's one of the last times we see Pippin being so childlike; yet we know that his innocence is a facade, since he is already one of the conspirators, and probably worried. And Frodo, so sad at losing, as he thinks, his dearest kin. Author Reply: Until I read a ficlet about it recently, I hadn't thought much about Pippin's point of view in this scene (surprisingly, for me), but the contrast is striking isn't it? I just feel very sad for Frodo thinking that he's bearing this burden all alone, and I love that moment in Crickhollow when he's so relieved to find that they're coming with him, and that it's a decision taken off his shoulders.

Oh! I recognized this scene from the book! I loved this scene, too. Very nice drabble, I might add! :-) Pippinfan
