Beauty for Ashes  by Nina the powerwriter 2 Review(s)

Well, they are beginning to acknowledge their feelings at last!

I like that Merry gave in on Estella coming because he remembered Eowyn. He would know, if anyone did, that being female did not make one helpless. But of course there was a difference; Eowyn *knew* what she was doing.

Very good to have Pippin be the one who saved her from the ruffian. It would have been a little too pat and obvious if that had been Merry as well.

Wonderful description of the fight and its confusion. Sometimes fights can be difficult to deal with--too little description, and it seems boring; too much description, and it sounds bloodthirsty. You struck the happy medium.

Author Reply: Yeah, Estella wasn't too wise to go with them, but she's such a caretaker and when her charges' lives are in danger, nothing stops her. I can't wait to make her a mother :P

I try to balance out Merry and Pippin's part in her life. It's good not to lean to one side.

I'm glad the fight scene wasn't confusinf or bland! It's hard choregraphing those.
