I liked this; short, but written very much in Professor Tolkien's style. Author Reply: Thank you- glad you enjoyed it. cheers, Maya

Hi Maya, I didn’t notice before, but you have cleverly kept the characters to ones that appear in FotR. Just right for the anniversary. Thanks for a lovely story. Author Reply: Hi Alawa, Thank you! I was tempted to bring Faramir in, and possibly Eomer, but decided against it. Too many characters, and it didn't feel right. There was a nice sort of continuity to the original sequence of events: the quest began at Rivendell, and ended on 'the shores of the sea'. So it seemed a good idea to have people remember the Fellowship and the ones who left on that ship - not just the Hobbits, but also the 'great ones' whose leaving signalled the ending of an age in Middle Earth. Plus, of course, there's the personal element for Celeborn, Elladan, Elrohir, and Arwen. The first draft was pretty clunky, actually - three times the length, and making no sense :-) Ruthless editing was required! cheers, Maya

It is nice that they all gathered to remember their friends who have left those shores! I like the way Sam read the from the Red Book, very nicely done. Thank you! Author Reply: Hi, The book is at the heart of the whole thing, for me. After all, the version we know is supposed to be based on the Red Book. Thank you for stopping by to read and comment! cheers, Maya

That was really beautiful. You captured the mood perfectly. I could feel the goldeness of days gone by. You really write in the way of Tolkien well. Author Reply: Thank you - glad you liked the mood. I appreciate you kind words. cheers, Maya
