I truly enjoyed this story. A very nice glimpse into the private life of Faramir and Eowyn, and an eloquent picture of life in Gondor since the end of the war. cheers, Maya

I like this story more than 'My fullest joy'. Here I have the feeling of a real family and of blood, sweat and tears during the birth. Still I wonder how Eowyn managed to conceive the next children so fast one after another after Elboron (For three successive springs our house had been blessed.). The words "the less pleasant aspects of that cradle in our room—the midnight feedings," seem to hint at breast feading, which is exhausting in itself but also reducing the possibility of conception by supressing the ovulation. She must be incredible fertile indeed. The description of Faramir and the children is well done. Aragorn to me is as aloof as I expect him. But Eowyn sending for Faramir at the end of the birth of Finduilas is a bit like a 20.-21. century fairy tale. Having birthed two children I do not think Eowyn thinks or decides anything in the last contractions. Such a thing would have to been done when the mother can still think, not when she is short before pushing the baby out (The babe is near to crowning.). So she would send at least half an hour before the birth. In my experience the husband is needed from and at the beginning of the birth (hours and hours before the finale), in the end the experienced midwife is needed more than the husband. He gives a feeling of additional security, but the midwife helps easing the child through. The midwife also knows what to do to ease the pain a bit. And thinking retreats more and more during the birth until one wishes only one thing, that it should end (and I had easy birthings). Nevertheless, all in all it is a nice story about a happy Faramir having a beautifull moment as a gift from considerate Eowyn. So thank you for this birthing story Melyanna

A happy Faramir fic indeed! Thank you for sharing this - I always suspected Faramir would make a great father and husband and you demonstrated that very beautifully here. A lovely read.

Melyanna, A happy Faramir story that still managed to induce tears!!! Beautifully written, touching and so like the picture of Faramir in my head. Thank you. Helen Author Reply: You know, someone else who read this told me that it was a happy story that still made her cry--I suppose the real trick would be writing a Faramir story that induces tears of no kind! Thank you very much for your comments.

What a wonderful story. Takes me back to my own son's birth, which was the most astounding thing that ever happened to me. One moment, it was just us grownups in the room and the next there was a baby there too. Eowyn did give Faramir a gift. Author Reply: It must be a wonderful time indeed--I have to admit that I'm gleaning from others' experiences, as I have no children. I'm very glad you liked it. :)
