OK, right now I am trying to figure out why I never saw this. O_O If I HAD seen it, I would have read it, I'm sure. So sorry I wasn't here sooner! There's so much to say about this wonderful story that I have a list of notes next to me so that I don't forget anything. :) First: Gimli and the little kid. That was cute. I hadn't thought of that aspect of things, but there are lots of young boys around who are in pain and shock. Another thing that had never occured to me is big (short really), gruff, hairy Gimli sitting there trying to help them. That is just too endearing. :) (You can't call him cute. ;) ) Second: Legolas and Haldir. That was heart-rending. My sister and I still haven't exactly reconciled the Elves presence in Helm's Deep with the book. They were fighting their own war, not running off to Rohan. And I wasn't very happy when PJ killed Haldir, either. But Legolas helping take care of his body afterwards was very touching. Third: I was VERY disappointed with movie Eomer. After all, he IS my favorite character, followed closely by Legolas; they both seem to be shoved to the background a lot. Come on, PJ! Eomer's more interesting than anyone! Why is he forgotten so much?! I felt slightly compensated with his bigger part in EETT, but it still wasn't enough. RotK was very disappointing in that regard. Again, he's just there because Tolkien mentioned him. And half his part was cut anyway! He's Eomer King now! Give the guy more recognition than one split second of film time at Aragorn's coronation! It was so short that my sister didn't even notice it until the second time she saw it. And then only because I pointed it out to her! >_< Fourth: Eoward. Is he an OC? or is he Tolkien's? I get the feeling he's yours; but either way, do you think you could write another story about their friendship? That is, if you haven't already. :) Lastly: the family bond. I absolutely loved the entire story. The way it was based on the love of a family is really enjoyable in this modern day world that tries to tone down the importance of family. They're just three people afloat with only their love to keep them alive, really. I never stopped to realize that once Theoden dies, it's just Eomer and Eowyn. That is until both get married and they start having kids. :) Truly touching. Please forgive me for not getting here sooner, and then rambling on once I find you. Sorry! :) Author Reply: Wow, thank you for this very nice review!!! I really enjoyed reading it and I am very glad you liked this so much!! You have given me a plot bunny. Darn you. LOL. I probably will end up writing a friendship fic about Eomer and Eoward but that probably won't happen for a while. I have so many other fics I'm working on!! Yes I was very disappointed at how little Eomer was in RotK, just like you. I also wanted to see him more in TTT, that was what led to this fic. Here's hoping for ROTK:SEE. I absolutely love family bonds in stories and movies and such. I'm borderline obsessed with it. I LOVE it. LOL. Another reason I wrote this. I thought that the relationship between Theoden and Eomer in the movie was SO underdeveloped!! They had a father/child relationship, too, not just Theoden and Eowyn. I'm really glad you liked what I did with Gimli and Legolas. Yes I had a hard time reconciling the Elves at Helm Deep as well, but since this was movie-verse I decided I needed to keep it in there. =D Thanks again for the wonderful review!!

Gack, I MEANT Theoden! Everytime I've said Theodred I meant Theoden! Way to proove that I really cannot type, lol. Cathy, :P :P :P :P :P Author Reply: Aw man I accidentally deleted your first review. I meant to reply. Note to self: don't reply to people at two in the morning. *slaps self* You're right about Eomer saying he was fine and blah blah, but in this case, I think it was fitting that he would insist that others more seriously hurt be treated. About Eomer not trusting his uncle... he knew that the white wizard had overtaken his mind, didn't he? Plus he coudl see the physical difference in Theoden, which was immense, and he would have seen the genuine concern as well. I guess it is all a matter of how you interpret things. Thanks for reviewing! I know you don't care for Eomer, lol. *tries and fails to understand why* =D

Eurgh, Eomer = grim, grim, GRIM! Lol, that apart this was a lovely gap-filler. I've always thought it odd that there was no reconcliation between Eomer and Theodred in the film, and the fic fits in very nicely. Eomer's obviously been learning from Aragorn in the 'I'm fine, others are hurt worse' category. Eomer forgives Theodred just a touch too easily for my tastes though - probably because I'm vindictive and wouldn;t have trusted him. I'd maybe have looked to Gandalf for proof first before believing him. But his grief at learnign of his cousin's death was heartfelt, for all that he tried to conceal it. Yes, very nice indeed :P Cathy, xx

Very nice! I, too, was quite dissatisfied with Eomer's role being sliced to ribbons in The Two Towers movie. However, I more wanted some interaction with him and Eowyn. I mean, you barely know the relationships in the House of Eorl unless you play close attention or have read the books. All you have to go by is "Your uncle is wearied," "Your brother has deserted you," and Eowyn addressing Theoden as uncle. Then you have to piece it all together. Anyway, very glad you wrote this. Maybe you should send it to PJ and get him to make an extended extended edition. :) Author Reply: I really hope there is SOMETHING in the EE of ROTK. Maybe I should send this to PJ,lol, even though Helm's Deep was in TTT. Maybe he'd take something from it though, lol. That was the one thing I was severely disappointed over in both TTT and ROTK. In ROTK Eomer felt to me like an extra with a name, and I was not happy with that in the least. Anyways, I am really glad that you liked this. Thanks for reviewing!

I'm glad that you did this. The aftermath of that battle hardly gets a mention and then it's on to the next one. It lets you see people trying to help one another through their loss and their victory. I liked the addition of Gimli too even though he wasn't the focus of the story. He needs his own set of fan fictions! Short, but very moving! (this story that is, that was not a reference to Gimli. LOL) Author Reply: LOL I knew what you meant. I'm really glad that you liked this, I felt the need to amend the omission of our favorite Rider of Rohan. *grin* And you are right, it did feel like there was no aftermath to Helm's Deep even though we know this to be untrue. I felt that movieverse, Theoden and Eowyn would be wondering about Eomer and be worried about him until they saw for themselves that he was all right. Plus I love family stuff, lol. Thanks for the review mellon!

Good point about the missing interaction between movie Theoden and Eomer. This was a nice repair of that omission. Author Reply: Thank you, I am very glad you liked it. =)
