Delightful! I love when a story is told from an unusual perspective. And few perspectives are more unusual than the one you presented here. A bird's eye view, as it were. (Sorry, I couldn't resist the obvious joke.) Very well done!

The ways of the walkers are strange, ... In that matter they are no better than magpies – and we all know what magpies are like.

This is awe-inspiring! How did you manage to really get into the shoes, er, um, feathers of the bird? You must have a bird-brain, and I mean that as the highest sort of compliment!
