Oh, my poor Daeron! That was beautiful, Jen. You've made me teary-eyed here, and I am so glad to read a fic that portrays Daeron in such a sweet, melancholy light. I shall always think of him as a secret companion of Arwen's, now--and it makes a certain sad sense, doesn't it, to think that he would be drawn to her? My favourite line has to be the one where he tells Arwen "I am not the singer your father seeks". Poor Elrond; I'm so glad you got in that little nod to Maglor, and to Elrond's grief. He lost everyone he ever loved, and I imagine he still wonders what became of the 'other' great Elven minstrel, and if he will ever find him again. In any case, brilliant job! I figured this out about halfway through on my first reading, and then went back and read it a second time. That's when I got tears in my eyes. Thank you for writing this!

Very good. I love Arwen and Aragorn, and it always nice to see something positive about her. I am glad her 'shadow' was not evil. :) Vi

Well, I absolutely LOVED this, but my knowledge of Tolkien and the Elves of Doraith are not too good. Who is the stranger, the phantom figure that visits Arwen from the time she is a babe until she slips out into eternity forever? Very well written, and I love that Arwen was able to teach her mentor forgiveness. Too little of that going around these days. Very enjoyable. Author Reply: Daeron, minstrel of Doriath, who was hopelessly in love with Luthien - and betrayed her twice. :) One of my favourite minor characters - he's so lovely and complex.

I've got tears in my eyes here. At first I thought "Maglor," which I'm sure is what you intended, but I also know that you are Devious and Wicked, and when I hit the line "I am not the singer your father seeks" I started listening really carefully, and...is it Daeron? It has to be Daeron. O.O If it is, I've never seen anyone write about him. And if it isn't, it's still a lovely lovely story and I want to know who it is, damn you! Author Reply: *bows* It is indeed Daeron. Ph33r my trickseyness.
