I do so admire anyone who can put beautiful words down in a letter (whether it be Eomer or you, the author). Thank you, ErinRua = well done!!

Let's start at the beginning shall we? :)

First paragraph: I loved your description of Merry. As my favorite hobbit, I enjoy seeing justice done him just as much as I enjoy seeing justice done Eomer. You always do both, thankfully. :)

Second paragraph: ". . . but of late I prefer a more sedate chair." I loved this line. :) It shows that Eomer, although still a great lover of horses, is getting old. Very nice.

Third paragraph: I've always liked modest rulers, and to know that Eomer, although a wonderful king, was striving to match, if he could, the worthiness of his uncle and cousin was wonderful. To hear his thoughts on the Oath was also nice. His brotherly love for Aragorn, forged those long years ago, really comes through in this story.

Fifth paragraph: Again, it shows how much a part of his heart is held by the livelihood of his people: horses. It shows also that old as his body may be, his spirit still is young and wild, ready to ride again. Lovely.

Seventh paragraph: Cute picture of Merry. :) A nice fat hobbit sleeping by the fire, what could be more endearing?

Closing paragraph: You show his affection so well! You can see that Aragorn's kids probably know Eomer like an uncle, and love him as such. The friendship between these two men is brought forth so strongly in these eight paragraphs! You certainly have an amazing skill; so keep up the good work!

Author Reply: *GLOMP* That's an enthusiastic hug, BTW. ;-) Thank you a hundred times for such ... golly, such glowing praise! There went my hat size, but I am ever so delighted to hear a point-by-point of what you enjoyed. What an unexpected treat. Thank you!

I have loved this for a long time, since first reading it last year, even though the subject matter is very sad, it indeed shows the love and frindship over the years between Eomer and Aragorn. Eokat.

Author Reply: Thank you, Eokat! :-) Their friendship is a little-discussed facet of LOTR that has always charmed me, and I'm very pleased you enjoyed my peek at it.

A beautiful letter written from one king to another, so sad to think of Eomer dying. liked the part that included the hobbits, and that they would be on there way to see Aragorn. great story

Author Reply: Thank you, grumpy! Heehee, yes, the hobbits just sort of snuck in there. I hadn't even really planned on Merry, but there he was, quietly napping. I'm pleased that dispite the sadness you found something to like, as well.

Wonderful, wonderful. Especially loved the bit about the King's ears burning!

Author Reply: LOL! Thank you, Lyta! I could not see Eomer being completely serious even in such a letter, so I'm pleased you enjoyed that wee bit of humor.
