| "and the world was grown ever so much larger and full of echoes" What a beautiful story! I love the line quoted above, for it exactly captures the emptiness that all our favorite characters must be feeling. I love how Aragorn never said Namarie, except once, the last time. And thank you for including Arwen as well. I've still got tears in my eyes : ) | |

| "Actually, the Lady Arwen simply told me that was what happened . . ." Does she speak to you too? All these folk speak to me from time to time in softest voices that are nonetheless most profound. As for me, I cannot speak at all at this moment, my throat aches so. Thank goodness I need not a voice to tell you how exquisite this tale is. Yet even with the aid of a computer keyboard I am hard pressed to find words good enough to express how I feel about this story, your artful skill, and these beloved characters. What you have made of these last farewells amongst such loving friends is truly a tribute to all of them and to the Professor. Elessar, Legolas, Gimli, Arwen each of them in turn broke my heart. Such love, such, loyalty, such grief, such hope. I bow to you and extend my gratitude for favoring us with your gift and with this stunning story. Thank you. | What a well done story! I particularly liked the parts between Gimli & Legolas. Their interaction was heartfelt and true to their characters. When Legolas asked him "how shall I part from you?" I really felt for that elf, his grief and despair really came through. And Gimli's answer! "Best to do it sooner, when I can appreciate the sentiment. It would do me precious little favor if you spoke only to the slab marking my tomb." LOL so straightforward like Gimli, but surely harsh to Legolas's ears. And Legolas gets so riled up, in his excitement, that he's only left with the simplest of requests: come with me. Gimli's reaction is priceless and again still so in character. (Can you tell I find that important?) And while Gimli refused to say yes, you could tell he was going to. He just had to drag it out for the fun of it. Really, their banter and conversation is so genuine, I really felt you nailed these characters. Great job! | |

| Erin, I have a theory that you can tell pretty much everything you need to know about a story within the first sentence or two. And so it was this time: the vivid imagery and language, the sheer poetry of “Sharp echoes of hoof beats battered the stone walls, as a grey horse hove near the gates of the White City” was maintained all the way through to the last gorgeous lines. I’m usually rather hobbit-centric in my fanfiction reading and writing, but I’m very glad that your ORC nomination brought this lovely story to my attention. Any plans for a sequel...or an epilogue maybe? :) | |

| This was beautifully written - you stayed quite true to Legolas and Gimli as Tolkien wrote them, I think. The bantering was perfect and nicely balanced by the more emotional moments. You captured the great love between these two friends and between them and Aragorn, and the poetry of the last few lines was stunning. | |

| You craft your words with wonderful poetry and great skill. This is beautifully written and a fitting tribute both to the deeds of the Fellowship, and the enduring friendship of Elf and Dwarf. I especially love their banter towards the end. Fave lines: "I have no legs for boats." Legolas stood, watching him carefully. "Then you may sit down." Absolutley wonderful stuff! | |

| Oh, this is lovely. So sad and so sweet. The parts in the appendices that tell about Legolas and Gimli going over the sea always strike me as being painfully beautiful, and you did them justice. | |
