Ah... that was heartbreaking. I think you have caught Huan's viewpoint very well. This exactly how I had pictured him in my head. (unlike some other good-for-nothing kitties). Good work, Werecat Author Reply: Thank you! Thank you very much! I was afraid I might be just a trifle AU with his character. It's probably a little bit weird to say it, but it's gratifying to hear you say it's heartbreaking. Not that I exactly *heard* it. . . ;) Of course, if Huan had been a cat instead of a dog, Carcharoth would have fled in terror. *pauses to ponder all the repercussions of that* But then, if Huan had been a cat, he would have stayed in Menegroth shedding on Thingol's favorite robes and killing the items on his desk. :) Thanks for the review! Ah, this makes me want to cry. Huan is one of my all time favorites, and this part in the Silmarillion always made me sad. You did a good job on it for I find it touching. Author Reply: Suilad, Kitt. Hannad le. Does it sound strange to say that I'm happy it made you want to cry? ;) It's been long enough since I wrote this that I don't remember exactly, but I do remember that I wanted to cry when I was writing it. Huan is way too overlooked for such a wonderful character. His story is so very tragic, but he remains loyal to his friends. You might say he remains a true dog. :) | |
