| That was a lovely little story. It was sweet and sad at the same time, and featured three of my favourite characters (giving you major bonus points!). I like seeing stories about the lesser known relationships of Lord of the Rings. I mean, there's plenty of fics with Merry/Pippin, Frodo/Sam, Gandalf/Pippin, Merry/Eowyn, etc, etc. I like the stories about the *other* friendships, and Merry/Gandalf certainly counts as one of those! Fabulous work. Author Reply: I'm so glad you enjoyed it! You know, I never intentionally meant to focus on these particular relationships-this was supposed to be more centered on just Pippin-but sometimes when you write something, you put certain characters in a certain situation, and they just take over and write the rest of the story for you. (This also happened with 'A Far Green Country'. I gave old Merry and Pippin a nice picnic basket-I was as surprised as Merry when I found out it was a *stolen* lunch-and let them chat in the sun, and away they went. | Lovely little story! Don't think I'll ever forgive Peter Jackson for not including the House of Healing scenes into the movie, but hopefully they'll be in the Ext.DVD. Meanwhile, thanks to writers like you, we have have these great moments. Author Reply: Yes, I missed it, too, and I think that was part of the reason I wrote this. I'd been waiting almost twenty years to see it...but as you say, here's hoping it's in the extended DVD. And I have to confess here: The song came first, and I actually built the story around it.
