Aw, very sweet and well characterized! I adore Frodo, and I think his relationship with Bilbo is my favorite of all. You did a wonderful job of portraying that relationship! This is definitely going into my favorites. Thank you for a heart-warming read!

Wow - I am flattered to have one of my stories placed on another's favorite list!

Thank you for your comments - I was hoping I got Bilbo and Frodo's characterizations somewhat right!

Here lately I have been contemplating what the 12 years Frodo and Bilbo lived together in Bag End must have been like - I know part of the reason I have been thinking of it is because I have been watching the beginning scenes of The Fellowship of the Ring so much lately and I have become quite fond of Ian Holm's portrayal of Bilbo. My inspiration came from his portrayal and also because I think Bilbo gave Frodo many of the things he had been missing since his parents died: the love of a parent and a place truly his own to call home...

Anyway thank you for reading and I hope you'll keep reading my stories!

Oh, I loved it. I still love the hobbits best, and I enjoy the the tender moments between Frodo and Bilbo. They go through so much during the rest of the tale, so it's good to take a little time and savor the moments like these. Only one problem--it's too short! write some more! :) thanks for sharing this.

Author Reply: There probably won't be anything added to this tale but I am working on some other stories involving Frodo and Sam - with appearances by Bilbo as well as Primula and Drogo...

I was inspired to write this story from watching the beginning scenes of The Fellowship of the Ring so much recently - I've become quite fond of Ian Holm's portrayal of Bilbo in the movies and I would say definitely that his scenes in the FOTR inspired this fic!

Anyway, thank you for commenting and please do keep on reading my fics and enjoying them!

The image that opens the story is so vivid, I can just see Frodo there in his favourite chair. I love the memory in the flashback, and I do like your juxtaposition of Frodo and Bilbo thinking the same thoughts at the same time, miles apart. It makes me look forward all the more to their reunion in Rivendell, later on the timeline.

Thanks for posting this little heart-warmer.

Even though this story needs a little fine tuning, I am glad that what I was wanting to convey got across to the reader somewhat!

I've taken the story down for now but look for it to reappear sometime in the future after I have had an opportunity to fine tune it as I want to!

Thanks again!

Awww! This is so sweet! Add me to the list of those who love to see Bilbo being so tender and caring with Frodo...that sweet little hobbit lad NEEDED it! Good as Mr. Tolkien's work is, it does leave you wanting more information about that relationship. I always felt very sorry to think of poor Frodo there alone at Bag End after Bilbo left...he must have just been getting comfortable and accustomed to being loved and cared for so well...and then, to be left alone again. I know the book said he found that he liked being the Master of Bag End...but that first little bit must have been difficult. Thanks for giving us a peek of what might have been. It's comforting to think that Bilbo missed Frodo as much as Fro missed him. I'm looking forward to more from you! Blessings! cp

Yes, I can imagine in the 12 years Frodo and Bilbo lived in Bag End together, Bilbo gave Frodo some much needed love and attention, something I am sure he hadn't really had since his parents died.

And yes while I don't doubt Frodo did love being the Master of Bag End, I only imagine he did so after a period of time as I am sure that when Bilbo first left he probably felt like he'd been orphaned for a second time - I know I would have had I been in his place!

And yes I am sure of all the people Bilbo left behind in the Shire, he missed Frodo the most, and let's face it Frodo was the closest he ever came to having a child of his own - and I suspect by the time he left, Bilbo DID love Frodo as his own....

Thank you again for your review and I also look forward to seeing more of your stories!

Awww! I do love imagining that Bilbo's thoughts were turned to Frodo at the same time Frodo was missing him. Sweet!

Oh, Meldewen, thank-you for that image of Bilbo covering a sleeping Frodo and kissing him on his brow! Makes me warm all over! I think the relationship between Frodo and Bilbo was a very special one indeed, though we get only glimpses of it from the Professor. You have given us another glimpse.

I have recently been watching the extended version of FOTR and I admit part of my inspiration for this wonderful scene came from watching Ian Holm as Bilbo - he just plays Bilbo so warm and wonderful, especially the part at the party where he's talking to Frodo - well just inspired me to write this because I know Bilbo did give Frodo some much needed love and attention!

Anyway I am rambling so I'll close but saying thank you yet again!
