| Very nice addition to their love story - the endearments, Sam holding Frodo's hand to Sam's cheek when Frodo can't do it himself, a bit of an ache as though Frodo knows his part in this is not over, the holding of that hand against his cheek even when Frodo's asleep and the kiss to the palm. | Hi! I got here through a hobbit_fluff link, and I'm really glad I did. It's the middle of the night here, very quiet and atmospheric, and this fic nigh on broke my heart. Poor poor Sam: you write him so well, and the ending is so subtle in its shading of tragedy as to be deeply deeply beautiful. Thank you. Gaya xxx Author Reply: Hi, Gaya!! | Such an intense (but loving) interlude between these two -- a moment they shared that no one else would ever know about. And oh, what a terrible choice Sam did have to make, later in the Quest! | Oh, hello! this is beautiful. I love it. It is indeed faithful to canon and sensitively written. I love the closeness and intensity of the scene . . . and the love that is so apparent between Frodo and Sam. This is my very favorite kind of fanfic reading. Please write more! To be honest, I have been a tad bit nervous about posting this story because, as I said, I wrote it in the infancy of my love affair with LOTR so I didn't know just HOW many Rivendell stories there were out there. I'm glad you liked it! I don't really have any plans to add to this particular story (but you never know when a plot bunny may come hopping by!). I do, however, have another story (a WIP) called "Between There...And Back Again"...set right after the destruction of the ring and focusing on the rescue and healing of Sam and Frodo.
