I like how you have captured the highlights of the message and the potential thoughts and emotions of the messenger so concisely here. Who could think that 'gollum, gollum' is a sound anyone would wish to hear, but better to have control of that voice than not! Author Reply: You're absolutely right, Nilmandra. "Gollum, gollum" is a sound I would never want to hear. Unless I was someone who had to tell others that the sound was missing. I can easily imagine Legolas listening day and night as he traveled from Mirkwood to Rivendell, hoping to hear that sound in the brush or the trees. His announcement would have been much easier to deliver if Legolas could end it with "But I recaptured the creature on my way here!" Thank you for taking the time to drop me a review. I really appreciate it. :-)

Most excellent Well, How you can convey so much in so few words is indeed a talent. Poor Prince Legolas, makes me want to huggle him all the more. This is a lovely drabble kirienne Author Reply: Go right ahead and huggle the poor prince, kirienne. I think he could use a good huggle before his arrival in Rivendell. Thank you for stopping by to read and review. I appreciate it very much. :-)

Very evocative LKK. VERY evocative. Interesting topic to choose also. I like it. Author Reply: I laughed when I read your comment about me choosing an interesting topic, Lindorien. Because I didn't choose the topic, so much as it chose me. The idea popped into my head and said demandingly, "Write me!" So I wish I could take the credit, but I really should credit the Muses for this one. I'm glad you liked the Muses' idea. Thank you for dropping the Muses and me a review. :-)

Oh, that's nice! I loved the ending particularly - understated, clever and strong. I also often think about how bad poor Legolas must feel when he has to come and tell of that failure - even if it is only during that council that he realises quite how bad a thing it is. Author Reply: I'm glad you liked the drabble, Avon. I have a great respect for your writing skills, as you know, so your comments mean a great deal to me. Thank you reviewing!

Aww, poor Elf. That was a wonderful drabble. Not one unecessary word. Author Reply: I feel sorry for the poor elf, too. :-( I'm glad you liked the drabble, Portia. Thank you for taking the time to let me know.

Ooo, nice one! Not one extraneous word, and you captured everything Legolas must have been thinking before he had to stand up in the Council of Elrond and tell the world that Gollum was gone. Good job! Author Reply: Thanks for reading and reviewing, LOTR lover. I appreciate your comments very much!

I always expected Legolas felt rather badly about this. And no doubt he is quite unhappy about having to announce to the Council tomorrow that his people lost Gollum. No wonder he can't sleep. Poor conflicted Prince of Mirkwood. Nicely written! Author Reply: Thank you for the review, Nightwing. On the journey from Mirkwood to Rivendell, I picture Legolas straining day and night, listening to every sound, hoping that by some chance he might be able to recapture Gollum. Sleep isn't nearly as important as capturing that elusive noise-maker!

Lovely! I have always been interested in how Legolas felt about the announcement he had to make at the council. Author Reply: I had never thought much about his feelings regarding the announcement before, to be honest. Then one night, Tolkien's description of the distress in Legolas' face just hit me. I realized he must have been very concerned to have been so upset. After that, the drabble started writing itself. Thanks for the review!

Oh, LKK, that was lovely. to say so much with such a small amount of words! VERY well done! I love Legolas angst.... :-) Thanks for posting this! Author Reply: Angst??? Wow. I never thought I could write angst. I didn't realize I had done so until your review! This opens up a whole new genre for me. *starts thinking furiously* Thank you so much for your review, Jasta!
