LOL -- wicked, wicked Erestor! I'm sitting here with a huge grin on my face at the idea of Erestor reminding Elrond to know his enemy. This was a great epilogue. I'm glad that Erestor and Glorfindel still came out on top. No one can beat those two when they work together. :) Author Reply: Glorfindel and Erestor are indeed make an unbeatable team, I guess it is fortunate for Imladris that they temper their mischief with the wisdom of their years, hehehe.

Yay – you continued it! Only have time for a quickie review… I know I’m mean, but I really liked the idea of the twins shivering and seething all night! I loved the almost fatherly feelings Glorfindel and Erestor have towards them, so they know when it is time to pull back rather than keep pushing them. I thought you did a great job underlining the different personalities Elladan and Elrohir have in their reactions to their defeat. And good old Erestor knows exactly how to take the sting out of it – show them that Elrond wasn’t much better at the game than they were! The ending was lovely – a wonderful sense of closness between them all. So, they’ve forgotten about revenge…??! Author Reply: It may take Elladan and Elrohir some time to think of a suitable revenge for their formidable adversaries, if they are game!

But there are no old, bold drivers." Author Reply: It's a small world indeed, daw. My husband, the once rally driver, has been heard to tell our son the very same thing!

Wow, you really don't like the twins, do you? I find it bit hard to accept that Elrond's trusted advisors would be so rude to him with concern for his sons. Interesting view of the characters. Author Reply: On the contrary, this is the only story I have written about Elladan and Elrohir where they are outwitted by their intended 'victims'. Normally their mischief prevails, but not this time. As for Elrond, he does indeed trust his advisors and their judgement, and would surely realise that were his sons in danger, they would certainly have been more forthcoming with their reply. Of course, you are fully entitled to interpret the story how you see fit. An 'interesting view of the characters' was partly what I was aiming for. thanks for your comments jenolas

Very clever, jenolas! Like the twins, I normally don't think of Erestor as a hunter / warrior, so it was nice to see him demonstrating those skills. I liked the idea that if the twins had merely stopped to analyze their "enemy", they would have realized that they could have remained at The Homely House and captured Erestor when Glorfindel and he returned for the night. Is there a possibility for a sequel? Where the twins try to gain their revenge? Author Reply: Yes, I thought it was about time other aspects of Erestor's character were explored.. and Elladan and Elrohir did not prevail against the pair of wily elders who know them so well. I suspect they will try to exact their revenge... eventually.

This was great! I really needed cheering-up today and this worked a treat. I loved the opening scene and Elrond’s growing sense of unease – all because he knows something’s up and he’s been left out! I really liked the way Glorfindel and Erestor come to each other’s defence against those cheeky sons of Elrond. You have such a gift for writing friendships. “He hoped that Glorfindel was not really so careless whilst on patrol, for the tracks were easy to read and likely able to be followed even by Men.” snigger That’s so funny… “Besides, I fully intend to make my way back to Imladris and the warmth of a fire, a goblet of wine and my comfortable bed!” Ha! Good one, Erestor! I was wondering if they’d really hang out in the trees ‘til they were found. Clever, clever… He left fruit and wine?? I guess he really is soft-hearted after all. And I do love the idea that Erestor and Glorfindel know the twins so well that they can totally predict their actions. I’m not sure Elladan and Elrohir would like to know that they can be read so easily;) “Shall we just say that we have plenty of time tonight to plan our revenge.” Yikes! That sounds intriguing… “Glorfindel did inform them that we would be found somewhere within the borders of Imladris, and I believe our comfortable beds fall well within those boundaries...” LOL! It’s good to see Erestor being mischievous. I feel all fond of him now…! Thanks for sharing this, jenolas – and I’d love to see more of it if you were so inclined…:) Author Reply: Hi Dot, I am very happy to hear the story cheered you a little, that is a very nice compliment ( and certainly made me feel a little better as well). I am also pleased that you have taken a liking to the 'hidden' side of Erestor. That he chose to exercise his cunning on Elladan and Elrohir serves them right! LOL! jenolas

Delightful! It is always entertaining to see Erestor out of counselor mode and Glorfindel in mischief mode. I do hope you plan a sequel for the twins' revenge. Now, on to business, (don't you just hate people who read the reviews before reading the story ;-)) I agree that the first Ai seems out of place but the second Ai (“Ai, Erestor has won… this time, but he and Glorfindel may have also underestimated us,” commented Elladan with a mischievous wink.) I think works fine as it is. As for the twins begin called elves...well their nana is 100% elf, their ada is a five-eighths-elf half-elven that choose to be counted among the elves - I think that makes them elven enough to be called elf. Terrific story, as is always the case from you. :-) Author Reply: I have removed both the offending 'ai's' and any reference to Elrond's sons as elves, but the Mirkwood elves stay! I am pleased you enjoyed the story. I thought it was about time Elladan and Elrohir received a taste of their own medicine, and who better to administer it than the delightful combination of Glorfindel and Erestor who are surely a match for those two! Thanks for your review and your 'vote of confidence' grin jenolas (I was considering a sequel, but am now having second thoughts).

This is an intriguing story and I hope it will continue. I have only a few nitpicky complaints. Ai = Ah! not aye, which means yes. I think in two places that is what you meant instead. Secondly, what are Mirkwood elves doing in the Misty Mountains, leagues away from Mirkwood with Lothlorien in between them? It seems more likely, though still remote at that, that elves encountered in the Misty Mountains would be from Lothlorien instead. Or perhaps a Wandering Company of Grey Elves. This is really picky: Elladan and Elrohir were refered to in one place as elves and in another as the Sons of Elrond. The latter is correct as they are a different race entirely. Too much muttly blood to be considered elves apparently. Otherwise, it was a well written piece and enjoyable. Please disregard any comments you disagree with. :) Author Reply: According to the map in front of me,(The Atlas of Middle-Earth, Karen Wynn Fonstad, 1991) and as far as I am aware, to travel from Mirkwood to Imladris, it is necessary to cross the Misty Mountains. The border of Mirkwood, which is surely patrolled by Thranduil's elves, is less than two miles from the foothills if traveling along the Old Forest Road. I do not think it unlikely that Mirkwood elves ventured into the pass between Imladris and their home. Bilbo and the dwarves certainly took that road as they travelled to Erebor, through Mirkwood. Lothlorien is located further to the south, beyond Moria with the southern borders of Mirkwood, and Dol Guldur just across the Anduin. Thank you for your comments.

Cute story. One thing I noticed was that in the eighth paragraph you put "brother's" when I think you meant "brothers'" plural possessive. Author Reply: Thanks for pointing out the grammatical error, I have now corrected it.
