Oh my! I'd tried to write that one and it did not work at all.
Yours worked perfectly...a nice balance of emotion and humor.
I loved the connection you had Merry make:

“Yes it was, Pippin. You made it so we could be together again.”

Aragorn and Gandalf were definitely well written as well. VERY true to the film and the way the actors portrayed them, as were the hobbits.
