I just finished this marvelous story. I just knew Aragorn would take Vlohir with him. Now I'll have to read "Twilight of the Gods". You are an extremely talented writer. I could hardly stop reading and was glad I had the time to finish today.

I found your story listed in the 2006 MEFAwards. (I'm a little behind in my reading.)

Poor Vlohiri. Bullies are so cruel. Somehow, I feel he will be Aragorn's way to freedom. When it happens, I hope the child is put into a real home with people who will love him.

I can't believe this is your FIRST story, and that English is your second language. This is so excellent I don't know what else to say. I would be embarrased for you to read my first or even my current story. You are a far superior author than I am. I can't wait to see where you take Aragorn and the others.

Author Reply: Hi Tari,
wow, what a wonderful surprise to get a review on this story after such a long time! You're very welcome to read more about our favorite Ranger and a young boy named Vlohiri, and I hope you will be well entertained.

Cheers,
Timmy

This story is advancing quickly from a simple bookmark to one of my favourite stories. It just works well on so many levels. The storytelling just "flows" and the character development is pure genius.

I especially like the OCs. They are all fleshed out as complete characters, but I found that I adore Vlohiri and Lomac the most. And Lady Saborian makes for an impressive villain! I'd love to read more about Vlohiri and Lomac and I'm sure they could carry their own stories!

And lastly: Great idea to tell the story from (mostly) Vlohiri's POV and never venturing into Aragorn's mind. He stays a black spot for the most part of the story and for me this added to the tension.

Oops, one nitpick. As far as I know Denethor never had a brother. He had two unnamed sisters. You can either change it or not; it's not overly important.

Author Reply: Thank you very much for your insight and concern, but since it does not affect the story, I won't change it. But I highly appreciate your information.

I love this fic. Beautifully written, very few grammar and spelling mistakes, excellent characterization, engaging plot, clear dialogue. Aragorn was brilliantly done. He kept his spirit and nobility even when he was suffering. He was written as Tolkien intended him to. Faramir and Eomer were muchly in- character as well. Your original characters are wonderful. Vlohiri makes a wonderful hero. He's one of the few believable heroes I've seen in LotR fanfiction. Most heroines and heroes I've seen are dumb Mary Sues that outshine everyone, and whose actions are so unrealistic, I feel like puking over and over again. Vlohiri, however, feels real to me. He acted like any young boy would and seemed to genuinely care for Aragorn for himself, not because some teenage girl thinks he's so "hott 111". Lady Saborian, Medros, and her minions are realistic villains. They had reasons behind their actions and are credible as the bad guys. Lomac, Narana, and the villagers are wonderfully done, too. They acted like villagers in those times would. They're suspicious and ignorant (except for Lomac, of course) like people with little contact with the outside world would act. I wanted to nominate this fic for a Mithril Award, but nominations are over. Next year, I'll try to, and I bet you'd win.
Namarie!

Author Reply: Thank you very much for this praise! I always try to bring the OCs to life, and it is nice to read that it worked. When writing I consider the OCs even more important to characterize since the CCs are known and can only be developed in certain scopes.

I hope you will find the time to have a look at the (kind of) sequel. It will be a much longer story and my friend and I hope to finish it before the year is through.

Take care,
Timmy

i just wanted to say....i could not leave my seat untill this story had been read. you write very well, and, kept me on the edge of my chair through the whole story. i read alot, but, i dont leave a review very often. not because i dont want to,but, because i read soooooo much....i would spend most of my time reviewing.but now with this story i could not go on to another untill i told you just how good of a story this is. only one regret....i would have wished to read on at least untill the little boy "hero" at last met Lady Arwen. Maybe you will continue a part three for that? i hope so. keep up your writing in any case. you ARE very good at it in my opinion anyway.
have a very pleasent day....
and,thanks for the entertainment.
Elvenstar :-)

Author Reply: Thank you very much for your review! Vlohiri's journey to Minas Tirith, his meeting with Queen Arwen, and his further life at the White City will be a part of the (kind of) sequel "Twilight of the Gods".

Take care,
Timmy :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this story. It's very well conceptualized and written and I adore the plot-line. Will Aragorn get too sick and weak to fight back? Or will Faramir and Co. come to save him? I can't wait to read more!

Wow! I loved the ending! You have done a wonderful job with this story. The characterisation of every character is amazing. You have reconstructed the personality's of the characters truly and kept them expanding throughout the story. My favourite character out of the OCs would have to be Vlohiri! I'm glad he decided to help Aragorn and his determination to bring help made him a pleasurable character to not forget. I'm glad that he is going with Aragorn. A nice way to end the story to. You got right to the point and kept everything interesting and forthcoming. Not once did I get bored with this! The story is a fantastic piece of talent, and I hope you continue writing more stories, as you have such an amzing talent in this area! The fact that English is not your native tongue makes you even better! You are able to write in 2 languages (I can't even do that!).

The whole story was amazing and something different from what I usually read. I chose to read this because I thought it had potential and the summary caught my eye. Everything about this story is a pleasure to read.

I wish you good luck on the possible sequel, and when (or if) you write and post the sequel anytime in the future then I'll be there to read it!

Thank you for such a great story and making my dull afternoon's exciting with this story!

10/10 writer. 10/10 for the story. Brillient, I do not know what to say, the ending was brilliently constructed. WELL DONE TIMMY2222!
