I found your story quite entertaining, but you may want to know that you misspelled "Mordor" in the fifth paragraph from the bottom. Author Reply: Ooops! Thanks ... all done.

Oh my goodness...oh my goodness oh my goodness...WOW! I'm flabbergasted! That was incredible!! Not only is your writing style very enjoyable to read (the imagery! AIYA! It's like I was right there, sitting next to the fire with them)...for me personally, the most desirable thing to be found in a LOTR story is originality (followed closely by some good torture. lol) And MAN was this original. *sprints off to add to various favorites lists* Must remember to thank Marigold for reccomending this to me...

I absolutely loved this! You captured them all so well, especially the hobbits I think, and I love that they learnt to respect each other more through their willingness to share something about themselves that they all have in common, rather than through fighting. It's a wonderful image to think of them all dancing by the fire, and I love that you described it as something dignified or beautiful, even though some of them were reluctant to do it. I especially liked the bit when Sam and Pippin got up to dance, that they were both doing it for the good of the rest of the group, and also that Boromir was reluctant to let down his guard but accepted his fate with humour and good grace once he was exposed by Gandalf... I could go on forever, but anyway it was wonderful, and it made me laugh out loud several times which is always good! Thank you! :)

What a marvelous way to tie together all the disparate groups represented in the Fellowship, and using dance as the means was nothing short of inspired! I've read various stories about the Fellowship becoming better acquainted through various trials and tribulations, but this particular take using dance showed them all that the more we are different, the more we are alike. It is especially interesting to see an act of Boromir causing the whole event. Also, using dance to relate to the movements in sword play is quite revelant...I've read before how the steps required in certain fencing moves and counter moves are similar to dance steps....and how football players are sometimes required to take dance as a means of increasing and refining their coordination skills (and in Pip's case, to give him a needed advantage over the Big Folk!). The reflection of each race in their dancing was also clearly shown (being an elf devotee, I loved Legolas' and Gandalf's contribution). All in all, a very affecting piece of writing. Thank you!!! linda

That was wonderful and had me laughing through the whole thing! I guess dancing and sword play really wouldn't be that much differnt, besides the fact that one it done for pleasure and the other to normally kill and opponent. The idea of Legolas and Gandalf dancing together, no matter how beautiful the dance, was quite amusing! And Gimli making Merry dance with him was a hoot! Good of Sam to get the whole thing going, all for Frodo! Thank you sharing it was wonderful!

The Sight of Gimli and Merry dancing was worth the read. Your images are perfect and each dance suited the dancers very well. A wonderful chapter.

Very nice, Nancy. There's a great deal of similarity between dancing and sophisticated sword fighting. Very ingenious of you to take the two and combine them into a story like this. I noticed that Legolas was the only member who didn't hesitate to demonstrate one of his culture's dances. Very appropriate for an elf, I think. (I'm an elf-lover, so forgive me if I focus on his little part on your story. LOL) I liked how you gave each person / group a different style of dance reflective of their culture. Ah, what the heck, I liked pretty much everything in this story. :) Good job!

I loved this. I can just imagine them dancing. So Aragorn got to go backwards, huh?

Delightful! What a wonderful way to show the similarities (and differences) between the members of the Fellowship, as well as insights into Boromir's character and life. A wonderful bonding-story.
